OL Prospects

With LVE coming back for 1 year— we have freed up round one from having to go LBer. And the fact Dallas has not brought in OL in FA— it’s clear we are going to draft OL.

Who are your top OL pet cats in rounds 1-3 this year?

None for me in the first round that are realistic. Penning would be but I don't think he makes it out of the top 15. I'm a fan of Linderbaum, Green, and Johnson but I just don't see flashing light 1st round talent with any of them. Solid players, but players I'd rather have in round 2.

Round 2 seems ripe with talent. I could see any of the 3 mentioned above falling to the 2nd with the exception of maybe Linderbaum. In the 2nd I really like Tyler Smith/Tulsa on the interior and Petit-Frere on the outside.

Round 3 I think that Sean Rhyan/UCLA is an underrated interior player and I like Daniel Faalele outside. Someone is going to get a good player in Cameron Jurgens/Nebraska around here too.

I like Raimann a lot. I think he'd be a great pick in round 1. I also would like Parham in round 3. This fixes the left side of the line in one draft.

I would take Ed Ingram in the 2nd. I know he is listed 3rd round by mockers I think he’ll go in the 2nd. The guard has to be a plug and play so later rounds I*d have worries

Id be happy with Zion or Green in the 1st

I love Linderbaum and think a lot of our issues up front exist because of a lack of experience and technique at the C position.

Biadasz may yet develop into a solid starter— but IMO the C position requires a high football IQ to make calls, line adjustments, shifts etc… while also having the ability to execute the blocking assignments themselves.

Biadasz has been “ok”— but I expected more from him last year. I think upgrading the pivot may optimize the entire output of the OL more than merely upgrading the talent at LG or RT (though I would love to upgrade those spots as well lol)

Penning, Green, Zion Johnson, Linderbaum, Raimann, Tyler Smith are the 1st rd players. They have been linked to Penning, Tyler Smith, Zion and Raimann thus far. Once the 30 visits start to leak, we will see even more.

Green and Johnson look like dudes who will be playing for the next 10 years. Would love either at 24.

Linderbaum is a good player and I wouldn't be upset about picking him, but I don't know about his scheme fit here. He's small even for a center. You would have to use a lot of movement in your blocking scheme to get the most out of him and I don't know if we do.

Don't love Raimann (old, small school, short arms) or Tyler Smith (sushi raw).

On Day 2, Devon Kinnard is a bad NFL tackle who could be a really good NFL guard. And I sort of like the two Ohio State dudes, Nicholas Petit-Frere and Thayer Munford. There's been very little press on both but they're solid.

If Lindsrbaum falls to us… it’s a no brainer IMO. But I don’t think he falls past 20

tale of two seasons in how the cowboys did that. You go back and look at the cowboys running plays early in the year and the creativity in moving olineman was beautiful. I think the main reason they stuck with Connor Williams as long as they did is because he could move. As the year went on we saw less and less though. Not sure if that’s because of who was in the lineup, guys getting banged up, or Kellen Moore just reverting back to throwing the ball every down but it became much more just line up and play as the year went on.

some of those big gains from the chargers game were the cowboys pulling multiple guys at once to perfection. Pollards big run against the saints, same thing. The cowboys seem to want smaller more mobile olineman and they utilized them very well at times….until they didn’t. Still leaves me scratching my head.
