They have about two more legit shots with house money.

Meanwhile....we love a bargain.
In todays NFL trying to build a dynasty is pretty much out the door. It can still happen but its so incredibly hard now that going for a 2-3 year shot is a much easier way to go. I bet you will see more teams taking this route. Sure the after effects are bad and you are going to stink for a while; but if you can hoist a Lombardi or two....

I don't necessarily support trading away high picks, but why in the world are we not trying everything to win now while we have a decent roster?

Are they waiting for a better opportunity? The clock is ticking on this group.

Yeah you're gonna have dead money problems later on but you PLAN for that around the same time you're gonna need a new QB anyway.

Why not take your best shot now knowing that day is coming?

That isn't some secret.

We were never going to pay that, and it probably is an overpay, but wouldn't it be great if we were actually aggressive?
Sure would. I think successful owners realize that overpaying in FA is just the way it is. Rookies are cheap, FA's are not. It all balances out in the end. At the end of the day you can choose to compete, or not.

Not true…

Also, the Saints have other large contracts. Marcus Latinate is the 2nd highest paid CB and Ryan Ramczyk is the 5th OL in terms of average annual salary. (#’s are probably from before this off-season). Let’s also not forget the Saints were fully prepared to pay Watson if they had won that sweepstakes

Any team can make the salary cap work almost however they want in 4 or 5 year windows. The cowboys are on year 26 of trying to open a window…

But hey, at least they were interested and "tried" to sign him. That's why whenever a big name FA is available, you hear those initial reports that the Cowboys always have interest in signing them to get the fans excited and thinking they are actually trying hard. Then when the FA signs somewhere else, it will look like they simply got outbid but at least the effort was there :flagwave:

That's what I'm not getting.

Whether any of US think Dak is the guy or not....THEY DO.....so why not make a better attempt while you have that guy???

They seem to think they can do 12 wins a year by not overspending in FA and thinking the draft provides more help than it really does.

This was going to happen all along. West coast guy who wanted the Rams. Always thought Ravens was a bargaining chip and no way he’d want to be in Baltimore.

Mods, create a new rule: you’re not allowed to cuss, unless stated derogatories are directed at the front office or organization as a whole.

because, F this team.

$10million/yr was too steep for tight wad Jones?

ANY who fan has lingering hope in the direction of this franchise should have their IQ checked.
