We lost our last two playoff games giving up nearly 400 yards rushing.

That wasn't about execution or lack of will or any of that nonsense. That happened because our DL, and in particular, our DTs suck. They're garbage.

Nothing has been done about it, so they still aren't a real contender today.

The biggest problem is Jerry Jones and there isn't a close 2nd.

Some don’t get tired of talking about the wealth of talent here? I love Emmitt, but I think he’s just being polite with this. It’s multiple things. The team is lacking not only mental toughness, but also talent in key areas and a quality front office capable of evaluating and then fixing those areas.

Parcells mantra with his players was always “do your job”. In Dallas the mantra appears to be “get paid.” The focus is simply not on building a winning culture.

Very hard to develop mental toughness when there is zero accountability in the organization.

Too many egos, too many distractions, too much pride, arrogance, and stubbornness.
This team needs a Parcells type but there isn’t many of them
A HC can motivate or intimidate
Both can work
Parcells intimidated
Tomlin is one of my favorite HC and he does a bit of both. But he gets players to give 100% like Parcells did
That’s what this team lacks
It’s not the next hot college guy with a scheme. It’s the guy that can get 53 men to give 100% for 60 minutes every Sunday

The problem is obvious.
The solution would be for Jerry to hire a tough minded coach and step back from meddling.
A real GM would be helpful as well.
The coach for sure
We need a Parcells type or a Bellicheck type
As much as I dislike bellicheck as a person he is a master of winning without a boat load of superstars
Brady was just a lucky get but the years around the HC may very well been a big part of developing the mentality he plays with

Sounds like Emmitt does not think the team is mentally tough.
Who here would disagree?

Yeah, it's about mental toughness and being willing to work ur butt off in difficult situations. Last year I thought we created an atmosphere where the team was over confident and thought they were better than they were. I think McCarthy believes in 'playing with confidence' and they/he over-indexed on building them up.

Yes with our culture and owner it has to be a tough coach who counters the hype. Should have thought of that when we hired McCarthy - that isn't him. Wasn't Garrett either - he wanted to be everyone's buddy.

its alot of things but emmitt isn't wrong this team shoots themselves in the foot on a regular basis. I know I've yelled at the TV many a time for their stupidity. where to put main blame is easy to say jerry or dak or romo the coaching etc but its a culture of stupidity that has been a part of this teams failures all too often

Emmett and Michael are spot on enough said we've beat this worse to death

I wish both Emmitt and Irving would've explained and give an example of lack of mental.. or will.

Is mental referring to among league leaders in penalties ? .. drop balls ? ... technique breakdowns in the OL ? ...blown assignments in coverage or run gap responsibility ?
Lack of halftime adjustments ? .... lack of 2nd half season adjustments ?

How much of mental or will flaws can be addressed towards coaching ?

Will ?... a lack of toughness or lack of self confidence ?

Remember when the OL did not come to the defense of Andy Dalton in 2020? This year Dallas cut the offensive lineman who stood up to protect Dak in 2021. He will be replaced by one of the offensive linemen who did nothing when Dalton took a cheap shot. Maybe it means nothing, but when the Cowboys were winning Super Bowls they had guys like Larry Allen, Erik Williams and Kevin Gogan on the OL. No one would ever accuse either of those guys of being soft.

- Or when Rams' chubby CJ Anderson decided to taught us by coming over out of bounds to sit on our bench while care-free Tyron Smith and Conner Williams crossing their
legs and whistling like it was flat OK ?

- Add Marc Columbo to that take no prisoner mentality group too , Closiest we've had to that demeanor was Collins when he defended his QB at the risk of getting ejected.
But yet we had to trade away that kind of tough guy mentality too,... (sigh)

- If we do draft an OL for the trenches, i'd like one with both quality stud play and a take no BS mentality, ..not a passive choir boy who will allow his QB to be pushed to the ground or shoved
while going out of bounds.

I tend to agree with Emmitt, this team plays stiff vs top competition, they get off to slow starts because they appear to be playing not to lose. When you are playing vs top teams in this league you got to come out fast and you can't make many mistakes.

Jimmy installed the winning attitude here and it lasted for 2 years after his departure but no coach has had the ability to instill it ever since. The Jones family operates with a different emphasis than that and untill the owner changes the culture can not change.

Jimmy had a young roster with no guaranteed contracts or salary cap.....he did a great job, but wouldn't be able to do that today. Probably why he retired. Got frustrated in Miami.
