Mel “Hyper” Kiper is vastly overrated. He maybe right, may not. No one- not a soul on this planet knows whether or not this is a great draft or not. Check back in a couple of years.

I believe in giving all these players the chance to prove themselves before criticizing. The front office is another story. After the last 26 years, they have no benefit of the doubt. Especially since none of the guys named Jones ever admit that they are the problem.
^This. Lets see what happens in camp and beyond.

Funny, Ferguson looks slowish, but catches everything and always " open" ...Yet Mel Kiper thinks hes meh... I like this kid. He's an old school in line guy that is well rounded. Do ya'll remember Doug Cosby? He's basically HIM. Go watch his old tape. BTW..Cosby played in the Big Ten as well(Ohio State).
he's a throwback.

You are the one in fantasy land if you think your hero is watching film.
Mel sits in a cubicle sniffing his own farts and sniffin glue while his underlings tell him how great he is.

We will know if he is right in about 2 years, but I do agree with him as a first take. IMO, Tyler Smith is 50% of this draft. If he works out as the Cowboys expect, then this draft improves tremendously. If he is a penalty machine like he was in college then he is a bust and so is this draft.

I am not sure why he thinks Sam Williams was a 3rd round pick? Most analyses I have seen of him is that he would have been a first if not for the off field issues he had a couple of years ago. And he was drafted late 2nd so the Cowboys were not that far off in their selection even by Kiper's standards.

Bit in the end, I would give Dallas a C for this draft too just based on the players they took. But as I have been saying, they kind of boxed themselves into their first pick when they did nothing in free agency to fix the LG spot.

actually espns draft coverage was messaging and hype. nfl network was better, not great. The best coverage was actually on DC.COM and the draft show. I watched that mostly.
