Landry deal. Why could we not have done this?

I guess we are ok with James Washington playing big minutes.

"Saints gave WR Jarvis Landry a 1-year deal with a base value of $3M, source said. He can earn another $3M in incentives, mostly based on individual stats. A good value option for New Orleans, while Landry gets his 1-year deal that allows him to get paid again if he produces."

Landry had a good year two years ago. Why is he still thought of as one of the best? He's fatter and slower than Zeke.

This doesn't get talked about enough.....This is similar to if Zeke were a Free Agent. Landry is a recognizable name, but doesnt have the recent production to back it up. Is that more on the Browns than Landry? Its a fair debate.

There are whispers out there, that many feel Landry is washed up. He was looking for 20 million and just got 6 on the open market, which suggests there is some truth to what people are saying.

OK.

Now compare Landry to the guy we signed to fill a WR spot?

No one that wanted Landry thought we were getting a true, dominant #1. The people who wanted Landry realized that the guy is better than the JAG we signed in FA.

Here's your answer:

Landry, 1 year, $6MM

Washington, 1 year, $1MM

That's all you need to know about the Cowboys.
I think if he could've been had pre-draft (and pre-Washington) for that cheap, it may've happened.

But Landry was asking for Cooper money at the time.

Since then, we added Washington, and more importantly, added Tolbert.

We had 5 million reasons to pay sign Washington before Landry. Oh, and that's me stealing a line from T.O.'s publicist, BTW.

Not to mention, I'm not sure he would have come here anyway. He turned down the Falcons.....

This is what happens when a football team is run by men who aren't focused on the NFL. We overpay a back-up WR when we could have had Jarvis Landry for the same money.

I am a big Jarvis Landry fan, but he is super old. Not even worth the 10m.
