As I’ve stated...I’m really excited about this defense as a whole...SW looks like an exciting new piece. We shall see when things start for the real but we finally have some real ballers n brawlers on D and helluva coach in DQ in second year. The sky’s the limit for D this season...jmo

Beating Josh ball in practice isn’t impressive.
I like the kid but I think this piece is over blown.

getting lots of snaps in a preseason game isn’t some great stat.
Did you read the article and included Twitter videos? Sam Williams has come very close many times to sacking the QB all while creating lots of QB pressures and assisting the Defense. He's getting better as he hones his pass rushing skills.

I don't think it was Williams who was in on the Makwamamamamamu INT. Think that was Fowler. So that article is just another lazy writer who makes more money than me, null and void.

I love Williams and can't wait to see him prove the doubters wrong but the article listed sucks.......they actually show him getting beat pretty bad by Josh Ball on 2 plays in a row.

I think you're right. It does look like #56 Fowler instead of #54 Williams...

Meh. It was during the early days of camp. Sam Williams has progressed much more since then.

Almost getting sacks instead of getting them is still good, except we're in pre-season. He's not playing against starters for the most part.

Sorry, I just don't get too excited about a rookie making good plays in these types of games, nice to see he's got skills, but I'll wait until real games before I begin to lavish praise on him, been disappointed too many times over the years.

I'll give him every chance, like any player of course, but like Parcells said about Romo, I'll hold off on the anointing oil....

That was Fowler on that int play.
But regardless, Sam has been very disruptive in these games. I see a lot of potential going forward. I get excited when I see what he's able to do.
If (that's a big if) he can keep that up against starters, this D could be dangerous.
If (that's a very big if) he's anything like Micah, we could have back to back DROY candidates.

I just hope he's not another D "almost" Law. LOL! Don't get me wrong I love Tank and how disruptive he is. He's a great all around DE creates tons of pressures. And if the coverage is good, or it's a poor QB, he can get there. But, most of the time he, like many others we've had over these years, is just a step slow and fails to get the sack or make the play needed. He gets home sometimes, but not as much as we have needed from him. We need Sam to be a guy who can get there and make the sack/play, like Micah, Ware, Haley can/could.

I’m big on Williams, but want to keep expectations in line. Pass rusher is one of the toughest positions to make the Jump from college to pro ball. More recently we have seen several freak athletes make the transition right away (parsons, watt, bosa brothers, etc) but most take time to develop.

year one he might not live up to the hype he is getting and that’s ok.

Good. Makes getting rid of gregory look better and better. He was done using JJ anyways.
