The ref reached back to grab his flag on that play, but as soon as he did Sam had him in his grasp, so he let it go because it was a moot point

Not accurate. And they're supposed to throw the flag anyway. I think you're referring to this video at 0:12 where the ref's hand swings back behind him. However, an official's flag is tucked off to the side of the front belt buckle. See the pic from the rulebook below and video of a ref reaching for a flag.

I think Williams was solely working in his speed rush, he literally did no counter moves, spins, etc. He had done those things in other games as Baldinger had broke down after the Chargers game. I think Williams is gonna be a great addition and I have already forgot that Gregory was ever on this team. The one negative is that he has had several bad unnecessary penalties. Gotta stop that.

Why is it that no one considers Will McClay the unofficial GM? Seems to me that he had a great draft along with free agents. I would say that Jerry has it set up pretty dam good, after all he did put up the cash to keep McClay in house.

Some of y'all need to learn what holding actually is. Williams was never prevented from going where he actually wanted to go. If you're referring to that pull, the OT actually pulled Williams back into his QB who had spun too tightly the wrong way, which again is where Williams wanted to go. Had Geno run more backwards and taken a wider angle outside (which he should have with Gallimore pursuing from his other side) and the OT did that same move to prevent Williams also breaking out wide, THAT would have been a hold.
Nope. The referee was reaching for his flag, but refused to throw it after he saw Sam grab Geno for the sack.

It's time to move past Randy, and no he's not better than RG...the rookie is developing, while RG is a highly paid speed rusher. Totally different type players.

It's a long season and hopefully Quinn can get this young to do some special things, but he's not there yet. I wonder where Sam will be around mid-to-late season once the game slows down a bit for him. I really like his power.

Because McClay has no say in the end. He just provides Jerry and Stephen with information and they make the call.

Do you think it's McClay that makes the final decisions on who to sign in FA and/or if that player will even fit into the cap strategy like most regular GMs do? Of course not.

Of course not, but McClay likely has the biggest say or influence with Jerry and Stephen when it comes to this team.

Probably not immediately but eventually. Gregory was good but he probably only had two consistent/semi-consistent seasons in his career with Dallas. I expect Sam to be a situational edge rusher for the first half of the season, barring injury to other DEs. 2023 will be Sam's year.

I think he ha looked pretty good. He needs more moves and ways to counteract his strengths. I expect he will be a support player this year. Dallas just needs someone to take advantage of all the attention Micah and Lawrence will get. Someone is going to have opportunity to play off those two.
That was my impression as well thought he did the same move over and over. He needs a couple of variations.

Cowboys drafted a BEAST in DE Sam Williams this year, and they got lucky he was still available late in the 2nd round with the 56th overall pick. Talk about a steal!

Sam Williams played most of the game tonight, and he was all over the field making plays everywhere. He had 5 total tackles (3 solo), 1 QB sack and caused 14 yards for loss against the Seahawks. He also had so many pressures and was so disruptive whenever he was out on the field, always moving and running towards the ball carrier nonstop. He is light years ahead and so much better than Randy Gregory ever was as a rookie or throughout his time as a Dallas Cowboy.

Can't wait to see Sam Williams teamed up on one edge with Micah Parsons on the other edge this season. They are going to be a menacing pass rushing duo for the Cowboys for many years to come.

At this point in his very young career, Williams appears to have more tools in his tool box!

So he forgot where he keeps his flag! :muttley:

J/K. He saw them coming toward him, and he was turning his mic off, so the crowd wouldn't hear him go, "OH ****!!!"

I did see it. You're wrong. Some officials tend to place their flags in their backside hip pocket.

A wise man knows when he's been shown correctly and goes his way. A lying sack continues his charade even when shown correctly.
