Good, more weapons to stay on field empty handed while Dak throws a pick just before halftime and targets Noah.

Better keep the capital (draft and cap) and try to start again ASAP.

Absolutely, but Philly or the 49ers will probably end up with him while we bring back Terrell Owens for 500k a year

As long as we get him for more than 1 year, 100 percent.
I think he still has a few years of top level production. He is over, but his skill set ages well.

His cap hits the next two years are, ridiculous. But I think the contract can be re done easily. My guess would be he would 2 years of guaranteed money here with an out in the third

Dan Quinn to Arizona GM…”what’s the plan personnel wise this off-season?”

“Well we are going to start by trading our best WR.”

“Oh cool. Hey is that your son over there with the headphones?”

“No, that’s our quarterback.”

Stay another year Dan. Just one more. Things could look way different eleven months from now.

If the terms were a day 2 pick and a restructured contract?
Restructure just pushes cap dollars into future years. It is not a pay cut.

They can create cap space by restructuring a player already on the roster.

You question is then simplified to which of the following do you prefer to have?

  • Option 1:
    • Hopkins

  • Options 2:
    • 2nd round pick
    • 17M per to sign a free agent

Give me Hopkins. We arent signing anyone relevant with that 17 million. And Hopkins moves the needle in our windown far more than a 2nd round pick likely will

Then your logic is that they'll spend 17M on Hopkins because they traded for him but won't spend 17M on a free agent?

No my logic is that they won't spend it in free agency in any meaningful way. Id rather have Hopkins for 17 than what they would spend it on

Your contention is that they would spend 17M on Hopkins but would not spend 17M on a free agent.

Maybe that is true but it seems illogical.

Why does it seem illogical when they have done it before with Cooper? And to a lesser extent Quinn. They have also negotiated and failed in trades for Jamal Adams and Brandin Cioks

They dont like to spend money in free agency. They are less hesitant to do it via trade

Depends on how much you have to give up to get Hopkins. Dude hasn't played more than 10 games the last 2 years. Need to know more about his injury history to make an educated guess as to how many games he'll miss going forward. i don't see them giving a high pick for someone that expensive for a guy who has missed 6+ games in consecutive years.

yes if the price was right. Meaning a conditional 5th that MAY turn into a 3rd. I'd do that. Paying anything more is a bad deal.
