Always liked jacoby, hopefully it was just hik being handed bad teams and he has a Geno smith type breakout (except against us)

Disagree with every part of that. Dak IS Kirk Cousins.. A solid QB. Kirk Cousins hasn't been able to win anything with a much better Vikings team than he could with Washington. The only difference would be that at least Washington KNOWS they need to find a solution at QB rather than thinking they are 'close'.. plus they have been able to rebuild their OLine and defence. If they do find the right QB (not Cousins) then they are ready to do well.

I'd rather be going through 'QB Hell'.. or rather finding an elite QB.. rather than continuing to try and find ways to hope that Dak can somehow magic us a ring. We are the literal example of a team shuffling deck chairs on the titanic rather than face the bleeding obvious!!

Or.. to put it another way.. we are the chiefs if they had kept Smith instead of looking for Mahomes.
Kirk Cousins is better than Dak.. better mechanics, better release.. better at reading the field….

You put Kirk Cousins in this offense since 2016, they aren’t floundering around in a garbage division they are still making the playoffs pretty much every year, even if they end up losing…

Kirk is / was not worth the guaranteed money the Vikings gave him. The Commanders were right to let him walk.

Washington continues to regret allowing Kirk Cousins to walk. If it was up to the fans on this board the Cowboys would be going through the same QB hell they are.
I'm not sure that they regret it. The Vikings made the playoffs twice in 5 years, won a playoff game, but were never true contenders the entire time Cousins has been there. What's to regret?

Washington made the playoffs once, got bounced. Also never a contender. I can't speak for anyone else, but if I'm Washington, I'm not regretting not paying Cousins 155 million for an extra playoff appearance.

he is the starter. They arent drafting a QB after this. Rivera likes the vets.Nice signing.

Maybe, but I wouldn't sleep on Sam Howell in year 2 as Washington seems to really like him. Very possible this is a signing to give Howell another year to develop which isn't a bad idea at all. My gut tells me if Howell shows signs of being ready in camp he will be the starter week 1.

Really just depends on the goal, and this is where a lot of people take sides on the Dak debate. If you go by the Cowboys philosophy of being fine hanging around middle of the pack and remaining relevant Kirk Cousins would have been a fantastic investment for them. Granted who knows what would have happened as if you pay Kirk you have the butterfly effect and really don't know how different the rest of the roster would have been. Assuming their roster would have at least been similar to what it is now they would have been a much more serious threat the last few seasons, and even their playoff appearances like in 2020 wouldnt have been viewed as auto first round outs. Do I think they have much of a chance to make a superbowl over that time period? Still pretty doubtful.

Minnesota was a contender this past season with a 13-4 record which led the NFC North, while Washington was sitting at home in the basement of the NFC East. Washington finished with a 8-8-1 record, which is the only time they’ve finished without a losing record since Cousins walked after the 2017 season. They’ve made the playoffs only once without Cousins and that was with an 7-9 record. They ended up wasting a first round pick on Dwayne Haskins because they didn’t want to pay Cousins. They wasted several more draft picks on Carson Wentz who only lasted one season. Now they’re stuck with Jacoby Brissett and a second year QB. They’ll likely end up burning more draft picks trying to find a QB. All those draft picks could’ve been used to fortify other positions had they kept Cousins who was clearly the best QB they’ve had in more than two decades.

I don't care if the Viking were 15-2. they had zero chance at getting to the SB. Again, they paid him 155M for one extra playoff appearance. Not only that, but Washington is its worst enemy. They could have drafted a QB in 2020. That's what I thought they would do. Herbert was right there. It's apparent they not only don't want Cousins, but they're not that interested in quarterbacks. They bring it upon themselves.

Minnesota had as good a chance as anyone in the NFC of reaching the Super Bowl. They were a 13 win team. To say they had zero chance is ridiculous. Cousins has passed for over 4000 yards in 7 of his last 8 seasons. He put up almost 5000 yards in Washington in 2016 and had over 4000 yards his final season in Washington. He had almost 4600 yards last season with 29 TDs. Go compare his numbers to the numbers the QBs in Washington have put up since he left. He led Washington to the playoffs three times and they’ve only been to the playoffs once since he left and that was with a 7-9 record. When they get good QB play they win games but they can’t find any consistency at the QB position. They would be contending in the NFC East every season with Cousins. They have a solid defense, all they lack is a solid QB. They’re going to continue wasting premium draft picks trying to find the answer at QB.

Dude, if you thought the Vikings had any chance at getting to the SB last year, I don't know what to tell you. They lost to a garbage Giants team. And many people expected them to lose. They were probably 50-1 to win the SB entering the playoffs. That's not a contender.

How can a 13-4 team have zero chance to reach the Super Bowl? You’re completely lost if you thought they had no chance at all. You’re proving you’re completely lost by calling the Giants a garbage team. They made the playoffs! Philly was the one who lost to a garbage team, losing to Washington and Taylor Heinicke. Lol While Minnesota has had stability at QB the past five years, Washington has gone through five different starters. If was up to fans like you the Cowboys would end up like Washington having to play musical chairs at QB every season.

Making the playoffs is not what it used to be. Just because you make the playoffs don't make you a contender. Average teams make the playoffs in every sport. Even teams with losing records.

I just looked it up. Vikings were 35-1 to win the SB. That's not a contender. I don't care what they're record was. They had just above zero chance at winning the SB. I'm considering forfeits. They were 13-4 because the NFC sucked. But there were teams they had no chance at beating. Giants, Vikings, Seahawks, really had no chance barring miracles. And I mean miracles on a biblical scale.

Making the playoffs is what it’s always been it gives you a chance! Once you get into the tournament anything can happen. It’s always been like that and always will. Everyone’s odds on reaching the Super Bowl were down in the NFC, because Philly had such a great season. Not wasting my time arguing this any further. It’s obvious we don’t agree and never will.

We're not really that far apart. The only place we disagree is who has a shot at winning it all. We both have our opinions, and that's how it is.

You seem to be blaming it entirely on Cousins. Minnesota would be in the same boat as Washington without him. He’s certainly not a great QB but he’s solid. If you don’t pay a QB these days, you’re going to be juggling QBs all season and picking in the top 10 every year.

Not blaming it all on him. As I've said, Washington themselves are their worst enemy. Certainly Cousins is a capable QB. But would have done Washington no favors. The Vikings couldn't put a team around him, and I'm sure Washington wouldn't have either. In hindsight, not spending the extra 155 million for an extra playoff appearance, they are certainly not regretting. That was my only point.

We have to take these teams into consideration. We trash the Cowboys front office a lot. But there are teams much worse. They can't get out of their own way. Washington obviously would have been better off with Cousins, but by how much? So I don't think they have any regrets.

You have to pay capable QBs these days. If you don’t, you’re going to end up with an incapable QB. Washington screwed up and is paying the price and will continue to pay the price until they find a capable QB. If it was up to some fans on this board, the Cowboys would be in the same boat. They see Dak as Kirk Cousins. Hurts is far from a great QB but he’s making over $50 million per. That’s how it is in the NFL these days.
