If there's any major concern regarding Tony Pollard's health this year, especially after suffering the two injuries in the playoff loss to the 49ers, the running back looks to be on his way to a full recovery.

If not, he wouldn't have been out on the field Thursday in the OTA practice, running with the first-team offense in team drills. Pollard will likely be limited at times this offseason as he manages the broken fibula and high-ankle sprain that ended his season in mid-January in the playoffs.

Pollard, who is playing on the franchise tag for 2023, is expected to be the featured running back this year after the Cowboys have moved on from Ezekiel Elliott. Other running backs on the field include Malik Davis, Rico Dowdle and recently-drafted Deuce Vaughn.

Pollard is coming off his best season of his career, rushing for 1,007 yards and his first Pro Bowl selection.

Nothing is 100 percent after an injury like his.

If he’s 100 percent, then Jerry needs to offer him a full contract.

I don’t see him being extended. Even if he plays well this upcoming season we’ll likely allow him to test free agency. It’s always possible that we could franchise him again if he were to play exceptionally well. I just can’t see the team investing a long-term contract in Pollard who’s starting to gain some mileage. By year five, Zeke was already on the way down, however he did have more caries than Pollard..

What bothers me is them passing on a chance to add/draft a higher-level backup or co-starter. Especially with what happened in the playoff game after he went down and the 49ers lost all respect for our run game. Maybe they are still looking to add another guy, but the drop-off after him is huge right now.

Zeke got his contract putting up a lot of yards and TDs as an every down back his first three seasons. We rode him pretty good his first four seasons, which started his decline in year five.

Good news on Pollard, he is vital, but we have much more depth at the position now.
