It is not the referees job to determine whether or not the time delay would’ve mattered… Just that it happened. It was pretty straightforward, the Giants player, turtles with the ball, and wouldn’t give it to the Eagles… Pretty easy call.

I disagree.

They make judgment calls all the time. For example, If the hold can’t possibly affect the play, they let it go. If a ball is uncatchable, no PI.

Considering that nothing could have gotten the eagles lined up in time, they should have swallowed it.

Also, not nearly enough time elapsed there to say delay of game, IMO.

It was a stupid stupid penalty, but I don't think the player was flagged because he wouldn't give it back to the Eagles player, I believe he was flagged because he wouldn't give it back to the referee.
