I think the mistake we're all making regardless if you think Dak is 100% gone or 100% getting an extension, is that we assume the Jones' have decided what to do. They probably have no idea and could change their mind in a heartbeat.

I think they don't care if Dak walks.
Why would they??????????????
If they cared Dak's extension would be done before March 13th end of the story.
They can only get an extension done if Dak is agreeable to it. Apparently, he wasn't.

A whole lot of copeium going on here.

Enjoy your last year of Dak, Dak fans!
Remember when Dandy Don Meredith retired and went into the MNF booth and the very next season at the Cotton Bowl the Monday night game was not going well for the Cowboys and the same crowd that wanted him gone baby gone the year before now were chanting his name to come back and Don famously said "I ain't getting back out there" Be careful for what we wish for. If we as a fan base think Jerry and lil Ennis can draft/acquire a very good to great starting qb better than Dak then alrighty then but I personally don't have confidence in this regime to pull that off.

LOL.............right and pink Elephants can fly.
After the new debacle vs GB, they are done with Dak.
Why some of you (very few) want to portray Dak as a top-tier NFL QB is simply a fantasy.
Bud the Dak era is a massive FAILURE!

Sometimes it is better to deal with the devil you have than one you do not know about.
One thing we can guarantee is Dak will not play forever. He is most likely at least half way done with his career. So regardless one day you'll have to replace him. Most of the time a QB does not stay on one team their whole career either especially if they don't win in the playoffs, it's practically never happened. So let's assume Dak plays here for 4 more years if he gets the extension, do you truly believe we're going to win a Super Bowl in that time? Because otherwise why does it matter if we win some games in the regular season just to lose in the first two rounds? It just doesn't matter not when you're the Cowboys who has 5 Super Bowls. All you're doing is starting the replacement search earlier and you might lose a ton of games but it just doesn't matter. The standard is not 12 wins and lose to the #7 seed in the WC round.

I'm not a big Dak guy. The problem is there is no other option at QB unless Rush can ball out.

Dak is what he is. And now he is just freezing in big games. He's not going to get any better. We saw the best of Dak already.

Rush proved he could hang and the players responded and gave 100% for him.
You don't need Mahomes to beat sub.500 teams now, do you?
And by the way, why did they trade for Trey?
WHY????????????????????????????????

If Dak wants much more than $100 million guaranteed new money, they might move on. Guess we will find out if they feel like Dak is expendable in the summer.

Everyone saying that Dak has tons of leverage is dead wrong, unless the FO is dead set on Dak being the starting QB for another 4 years at least. Dak stands to lose some very high paying endorsement deals if he tries another squad in 2025-the other team will be expecting him to produce with a likely lesser squad too. Not sure which other teams would be potential suitors next offseason. New York Giants, Seattle, Minnesota, Tennessee, Denver, and Las Vegas. I suppose Pittsburgh, but I doubt they sign anyone for big money (not how they operate). I don’t see the possibility at any other squad-and I also cannot see any of those squads spending huge cash on an aging QB that looks afraid in big games in the postseason (when the game’s outcome is still unknown).
Kirk cousins just got $180 million at nearly 36 years old coming off an Achilles injury. Dak will absolutely be paid franchise qb money and be sought after in free agency

This is why the 2nd round is our ceiling. You can't win with such a lackadaisical approach to the game. They are approaching talent acquisition like a hobby, not like a primary job. "I'll get around to it when I have time".

Until training camp??????? Is this true?? Why wait? I mean, what's the point ........this far past free agency and the draft? If this is true, they may as well give France a blank check coz the only leverage left will be if injury costs Dak to miss most of the season.

It appears from their perspective, that the extra cap from his extension has little or nothing to do with free agency per se but more about Lamb and Parsons deals.

Cowboys roster: How the starters would line up for a game right now

This is what the Dallas Cowboys roster would look like if they had to play a game today

Quarterback - Dak Prescott. It’s a given. The management (read: Stephen Jones) is indicating they will probably not work on an extension with him until training camp, but he is the starter no matter how that goes. He is a very good if not elite quarterback. His success and the success of the team is going to depend a lot on how well Mike McCarthy runs his offense this year.

Oh Jethro, still need players to fill a team.
