He is not playing for his job. He is playing for free agency. What makes you think Dak will want to come back next year?

Dallas is not trying to win. Go back and listen to Tyron Smith.

We like CD and Micah want to resign other than the money at this point?

CD is going to sign a big contract with no QB? Would you do that?
So you want to extend Dak and try to get him even more help than he has had in the past 8 years?

How much more time do you want to give a guy who is on the wrong side of 30 and had a serious leg injury and will be taking a significant chunk of cap space if we do extend him?

Dak will be with the team next season, so if he is everything he is cracked up to be, he should be able to go 12-5 and get us into the playoffs.

If he can't. it is time to move on.

Oh trust me it is new. In a follow-up tweet, Rapoport said all signs point to Dak hitting free agency next year.

That means, no contract extension during camp like many of the homers were hoping for.

We cant tag him so they are for sure ok with the prospect of him leaving after this season
Not really. It’s a new report that can change with 1 stroke of a pen, they aren’t letting him go. If they decide to that’s fine as again it’s a direction but for those that think this is like a done deal and he’s a goner you are gonna be mistaken imo and the rage that follows is gonna be 100% meltdown mode

he should go 5-12 so the decision is easier and we don't spend all off season giving us something to debate about

That also means no contract for CD or Micah. So you have to hope they are willing to play it out and risk an injury.

This is why, I believe we seen the negative comments CD and Micah's family members. They know they can't get paid this year.

This is GM Jethro's fault not Dak's.

Jethro is not even attempting to make an offer.

I see no way in the world Jerry starts over....at his age. Could be wrong, but I see this playing out as Stephen playing hardball by signing him whenever a deadline makes a deal to an ever more record breaking contract that not only has things like a no-trade clause and no franchise tags, but he'll loan Dak the Bravo a week for every 1000 jerseys he sells.

Dak's not getting another contract, Jerry basically just acknowledged that. So Dak plays out his contract then hits FA. You've got to think at this point they are going to have a down year. Dak can't really do anything he'll make 34 million this year and next year Dallas has a $40M dead cap figure.

So its Trey Lance, the only problem there is If Lance doesn't play they decline his 5th year option next year and will look to sign him to some cheap 5 year $25M contract. Then they'll try to start him. So Trey will really have to stick to his guns and sign a 1 year $5M deal, knock it out of the park, then go somewhere else for a big contract. You can tell Dallas planned this all along. I don't see Lance being taken advantage of by signing a long term contract for peanuts, but it looks like that was Dallas' plan. So if Dallas has a down year, I see them drafting a QB next year early and trying Lance out for a year. If Lance really does well he might get the $30M a year contract elsewhere or Dallas could tag him, but then Dallas is sitting with a rookie QB on the bench. So Dallas can still mess this up. It really would be a shame if they do Sign Lance to a long-term peanut contract and he ends up playing for 5 years. If I were him I would do a short contract, but if he does the long term one, I'd hold out after year 2.

You thought justifying a Dak extension after that GB disaster was impossible imagine trying to justify one after a 5 win season next year.

Dak is done in Dallas.

I could care less what decision GM Jethro makes.

However, it should be all in or all out.

Yes really. There is no contract discussions behind the scenes that we didnt know about. Rapsheet wouldve clearly indicated that there was a possibility this can change.

Clear line in the sand here. They arent re-signing him unless he wins playoff games.

Dak does not play run defense.
No, but he does play QB. The guy that should be able to move his offense down the field when needed.

Here is what our $55 million dollar QB Dak did in the playoffs before being down 27 points.
- Punt
- Interception
- Punt
- Interception (Pick 6)

That's definitely the kind of production I want from my QB!!!

GameS

That’s the important part.

The funny part is they might not even win 6 games next season.

Does not matter who our QB is if you are giving up 200+ rushing yards a game

No, lol this is like the guy whose never been kissed who thinks the hottest girl in the bar wants him because she looked his direction- they wanna believe it so bad to be true but it’s really not what they wish it to be.

1) there’s already been a follow up report from other cowboy reporters that a contract extension hasn’t been ruled out later in the offseason (gehlken) 2) as dumb as the cowboys are if they were seriously gonna let him walk they’d trade him for something than nothing. 3) if he leaves in free agency he still costs the cowboys $40million and he won’t even be on the team…you think Stephen and Jerry the cheapos they are paying that when he’s he’s complaining about zeke being paid $6 million for not being here.

Again, I’m fine with moving on from dak but this really isn’t what you think it is

I'm a seeing is believing kinda guy. There's nothing I want more than to replace him but up until he no longer is taking snaps is when I'll be convinced.

Regardless it is going to be a lose-lose for Jethro and some Cowboys fans and a win-win for Dak.

Dak resigns with Dallas good for him. Dak becomes a free agent good for him.

Dak leaves Jethro has no back up plan, no traded draft picks and a late 3rd comp pick at best. Dak stays and we still do not have competitive SB roster.
