What QB would you take that isn't Ward, Sanders or Ewers?

I feel like the Cowboys draft a QB this year. Maybe round 2. I'd honestly take Ward or Ewers if they were available at the Cowboys 1st selection, but Jerry won't do that. But round 2? He might do that.

Who would you take? I'm picking Dart or Gabriel.

I really don’t think they’re gonna go QB before day 3. With Dak’s contract, he’s the QB until at least 2027, and they’ve already made some investment in Lance. I think it’s significantly more likely we see Lance get a small extension/re-signing than it is Dallas goes QB in round 2. This team has too many holes to Michael Penix a 2nd round pick.

I dont see them going with a day 2 QB right now just because of the limited contract control. This is also a poor year prospect wise to do it. You would be lucky to get tje next Jacoby Brissett

Drew Allard. Has arguably the best arm talent in the draft and stats are deflated due to playing with a horrific group of WRs.

This ^^^^^ I can certainly see Jerry offering Lance a 2-year deal as Dak's backup.

Interesting. I need to watch more of his tape.

Ok.

But if they did, which would it be?

I just don't see it with Ewers

Ward is such an enigma - he's either going to be a top 5 QB or a bust. I just don't see the in between for him. Probably too risky, but I love the kid personally.

Milroe is very Lamar Jackson like, with maybe a more complete arm. It's just that doesn't translate always to the NFL, like it has with Jackson. A lot has to go right and you need to be in the right situation for that to happen.

Sanders to me might have the lowest floor - I think his arm is legit and has amazing touch/placement. I just think if Dallas drafted him, that would come with Sanders being the head coach. Not sure if I'm ready for that route.

A mid/late round pick that I'd feel good drafting is Klubnik from Clemson. Smart, tough kid, who gets results - he might stay though for his Sr. year.

Kurtis Rourke, Indiana- in round 5 if he is still there.
Tyler Shough, Louisville- in round 6 or 7

They are both older prospects, but they would be a good replacement for Rush as a back up.
Dallas will most likely resign Lance on a short term cheap contract.

They aren't going QB high until 27 or 28 draft.

Ewers doesn’t belong in this conversation. At best he’s the 5th QB in this class.

As much as I want to prepare for the post-Dak Era as soon as possible, this just isn't a very good QB class.

No to Klubnik. Makes too many mistakes and Plays in the weakest conference in America

There is no QB in this class worth the pick that will be used on them

None of them, this isn’t the draft to pick a QB high. Even if it were, it is an unimpressive QB class.

Kurtis Rourke
He was the MAC mvp and offensive player of the year at Ohio in 2022.
He transfered to Indiana and is leading them to an undefeated season. They just beat Michigan and play Ohio State next. He is rising. I like him a lot.

Dak isn’t going anywhere for 2-3 years. 4th or later is all I would commit.

Most of the guys in this class just look they'll max out as bus drivers or backups. The track record for the polished, pro-ready pocket QB who has great footwork and makes good decisions and all that has been pretty terrible. Josh Rosen, Mac Jones, Bryce Young, etc. If a college QB is in a good situation and they're not putting up bonkers stats, it probably won't translate once they have covered receivers and pressure.

So most of the QBs in this class - Carson Beck, Ewers, Rourke, and Gabriel for sure - are guys I am just writing off categorically.

The college prospects succeeding in the NFL are the ones with outlandish physical tools who can create plays on their own. The only top-end toolsy guys I see in this class are Ward, Milroe and Aller, so there's your short list.

Shedeur is physically very average, but I love how he creates over and over in an otherwise broken Colorado offense. People give him grief for always playing outside of structure, but that structure is getting destroyed about a half-second after every snap. He probably faces more pressure in two drives than Beck and Ewers see in a full game.

So ranking them all, Ward has franchise QB talent, and is close enough to putting it together that I think you have to take him #1. Shedeur is a high floor low ceiling guy, and would probably make a good firefighter for a bad NFL team. Aller and Milroe are high-risk project picks. Everyone else just looks like another guy.

Rourke looks to be much higher than 5th round. I like him a lot.
