Is it me or is Bland below average without ints?

Yeah its you....Neither Diggs nor Bland were great fits to maximize their abilities in Zimmers defense though. The Cowboys need to get better production from the safety position and let these guys be aggressive and attack the football. Not sure if Eberflus is the guy for that either though...

Hard to tell as Diggs had the league leading 11 pick season and Bland had the league leading 5 pick 6 season both under Quinn.
Will hafta see how the Eberflus scheme now effects Bland's overall coverage ability.

The Front Office's confidence level of how will Diggs play upon return will determine both of their future contract status.
Can't pay both corners 20 mil plus per year.

As with pass rushers, corners are sometimes measured too dependent on one key stat.

In this case, interceptions are the great eraser of inconsistent play. There’s no better example of this than Trevon Diggs. Diggs’ 11 picks in ’21 clearly absolved him from being dogged for leading the league in passing yards allowed. I’m not holding his feet to fire for this, as he did play role in a system designed by DQ, and his character was to be the baiting ball hawk. He played it well, but in doing so, he far too often played the role of pursuer on opposing team big plays.

Given the nature of TD’s health curve, questionable desire to put his hat on ball carriers, and the inconsistency he’s demonstrated, I’d side toward Bland if given the choice between the two.

But to answer the question, no, Bland is NOT below avg. minus the Ints. I state this without accessing PFF or some other outlet for statistics. Just using the eye test I think you’ll see he is frequently in favorable positions to make plays and from what I’ve seen he’s willing to get dirty when it’s required.

I love how the cowboys stink but at the same time the team is like oh man how can we possibly afford all these mediocre players

I think both CBs are flawed to be honest. Bland seems to be exception covering certain routes, while he is vulnerable on others. To me it seems lik he has great recognition for the out routes which he jumps to intercept passes. But on other routes he seems pretty average.

Diggs could be great but he is sloppy. He guesses a lot, takes a lot of chances, and is caught out of position a lot. But it seems like he has had games covering the best WRs like Jefferson and McLaurin and shuts them down.

The problem for Dallas is, Bland was coming off an injury last year, so was Diggs. Now Diggs has been hurt again and chances are he comes back less capable. If he can stay healthy, what we see in 2026 will be a better representation of Diggs than what we saw in 2024 or will see in 2025. I don't think Dallas needs to make a decision on him until after the 2026 season.

Great consistent defense is built on front 7 and safety play in centerfield

Eburflus runs a zone defense where CBs need to be great tacklers but dont have to be top cover corners

I would cut Diggs, let Bland go if his demands are too much and sign a good DT, 2 good DEs, a good MLB and sign Lewis along with a couple of decent zone CBs

Then draft a DT at 12 (or after trade down) and LB i n rd 3

Now you have a solid defense you can rely on

No CB is great when your pass rush is bad. But at the same time, I thought both Diggs and Bland were average at best in man coverage last season, with Bland being a bit better in tackling.
This times 100.

In today's nfl with the rules setup to drive offense, cbs are very limited in how effective they can be should the qbs have more than 3 seconds to get the ball out.

Fix the trenches and everyone else looks better

Diggs has been a vapor even before injury. Bland suffered not having a decent true 1 CB opposite him. He was also hurt. None of it helped. Carson has to step up big this year in some role or he's a bust . He was burnt toast last year. Looked terrible. Diggs needs to get his mind right and grow up. Stop making business decisions. If he's not giving his all, he must go.

They should cut Diggs really and pay Bland.
The dead cap money would be awful. Trading him is the only option. Hope some team is willing to take on his contract. It was another terrible deal.
