TRADED Cowboys trade for Joe Milton

When I think of using a mid to late first rounder on a QB just because you need one, dudes like Jake Locker and Kenny Pickett come immediately to mind. I mean, there’s dozens, but they are just examples.

How about Jerry’s pet Paxton Lynch? Quincy Carter?
“I’m a Libra, he’s a Libra…”

I dunno who is finding the next QB for this team but my cash ain’t on Jerry.

Yeah I guess he stepped in it with Prescott but of course handled it poorly by thinking he is something he isn’t, and also wanted Lynch and Connor Cook over him in that draft.
I agree. I want the sure fire project. Yes he may flop but if he flops that’s just on him and not me drafting a guy late and praying. This is a great draft not to need a qb it’s really disgusting.

In my opinion...
When a player is lost the incoming replacement player needs to be as good as or better than the one lost.
Javonte Williams or Sanders are not as good as Dowdle.
Grier and Milton are not as good as Rush.
Fowler is a plus pass rusher probably even better than Lawrence as a pass rusher. That's one.
Sanborn and Murray are not as good as Kendricks and Overshown, whose recovery timetable is an unknown at this point.
Elam is not as good as Jordan Lewis or Diggs, whose recovery timetable is still an unknown.
I'm searching for the improvements over losses here?

Just my opinion.
How is Rush better than Grier and Milton?

Some said Lance was low risk. The Cowboys need to invest a higher draft pick to develop a QB instead of getting other teams cast offs. I doubt Milton will be a franchise QB. I hope I'm wrong.
There’s no point in committing 1st or 2nd round pick in a player who won’t be able to start for three years, chewing up most of the rookie deal that makes it make sense.

The team is not going to open up a QB competition.

IMO it’s really the only way to overcome this unqualified FO. No amount of failure will make them recognize that they can’t do it, but Jerry would rather fail than allow someone else to take his precious “credit” and chance to prove he can do what Jimmy did (already over, but he doesn’t seem to grasp that part of it).

Nailing that type of QB is probably higher odds-wise than there being a FO change.

Again, you’d need the following…..

-Be bad enough in a given season to get the first pick, in a league that has teams that know how to properly tank, while we have an owner that wants meaningless wins.

-Have that same season coincide with a generational talent coming out.

-That player not becoming Trevor Lawrence or even Jared Goff.

True. That's why I wouldn't get too excited about a backup. The Cowboys need to start looking for Daks replacement real soon.

Jerry had nothing to do with it. Your take is funny.
Last year Jerrry said he was all in and a lot of people drank the Kook-aid. This year the Jones boys talks about drafting a QB, then they trade for a backup and a lot of people get excited.

Which are all valid points.
But I was referring to trades made vs. losing a few late round picks. Not who they replaced.

Who can contribute right away, as opposed to rookies drafted late.
Even though none of these players, draft picks or traded for, may be as good as who they lost.

Fair enough. I may have misunderstood your use of the word good in acquiring players.
I was trying to weigh pluses and minuses on the quality of player acquisitions vs lost players.
Based on that, the talent level of acquisitions vs. players lost is a lot of bad, not good.
That was my point.

Draft is understood as a yet TBD.

They should get excited. You should watch his highlights.
