Video: Why Robert Jones Could be a 'Huge' Pick Up for the Cowboys

I'm just not interested in hoping that this or that player over achieves, we need to actually players that are proven. The Jones magic show has grown tiresome...
well he plays good for us, we can give him a decent deal/ while NOT paying top guard money!!

Wow this video is bad...like really bad. He said that Rob Jones was a top 100 ranked guard this season, a top 50 guard 2023....There are only 64 starting Guard spots in the league. Plus Jones failed to log 500 snaps in 2023.

The handful of plays shared in the video were pretty lackluster as well. If you're only going to pick a few plays to share in support of Rob Jones and these are the best ones....ouch. This either means Jones doesn't much quality tape or this is a Youtuber just trying to push out content as quick as possible and has done minimal research on the player.

Anyone to churn the roster . Ball Waletzco Edoga never made a dent .

Jones Bass Thomas Richards . The line has some depth there’s always injuries . Maybe towards the bottom of the draft with one of these comp picks may be OL choice but this unit and TE & QB can be avoided for entire D position picks and RB possibly a WR .

He was ranked 26th in run blocking in 2023...

He's very likely a backup in case of injuries.

Was kinda surprised a bit when I saw that Jones is still only 26, I just thought of him as being older for some reason.

On just 175 run blocking snaps though. In 2022 he was ranked 45th. 2024 he was 62nd. Very good chance the 2023 ranking is more of a low volume outlier. It's certainly possible that isnt the case, but I didn't see anything from the video to suggest otherwise. Just seems odd for a video that is supposed to be talking up the HUGE impact Jones could have.

I kind of feel like Jones was brought in to be RG/RT depth. Other than Guyton, we don't have anyone who can move to RT if Steele gets hurt. Richards right now is a left-side backup (having never played on the right). Waletzko can play on the right, but has not looked good at RT. I don't think in-game we want to make a double-switch if Steele got hurt. Jones was a right tackle at Middle Tennessee and has played RG and RT some in the pros.

He might be given a chance to compete for the starting RG job against Bass and Hoffman, but I think we got him for the position flex.

I think the projected lineup is Guyton, Smith, Beebe, Hoffman and Steele, and the game-day backups will be Richards (LT, LG) and Jones (RG, RT) with Hoffman switching to center if Beebe gets hurt.

Remember when we used to trot Zack Martin out there and he would reel off all pro seasons? Good times. Doubt this guy even makes forget "running on fumes Zack" anytime soon.

LT - Tyler Guyton
LG - Tyler Smith
C - Bebee
RG - Hoffman
RT - Steele

The above will more than likely be your starting Lineup early, but we need to start seeing some progress from Richards, Bass, Waletzko.

This OL needs some serious understudies, and I really believe we might possibly have 3 with that potential.

I'm keeping a very close eye on all the positions on the OL this preseason because I firmly believe the OL to be the most volatile position on the roster, this unit will churn from what we see now, I'm not just saying it, I'm betting on it actually.

Please feel free and take another look at the depth chart while comparing them to who is in front of them, and I believe it's a good thing.
We will get to witness at least 1 from the trio, more would always be nice, but I'm good with finding one of those 3, they all have a solid chance, shine or bomb we will discover quickly who is who on the OL.
