Mike Florio tough on Cowboys

You do understand that Jerry took a 140 million dollar purchase and turned it into a 10 billion asset right?

Hate the player but respect the game - like I said I am anti Jerry but if you don't respect what he has done from a business perspective then you are either a moron or bitter bc of your fan pov
So Shad Khan bought the Jags, one of the worst franchises in the league for $770MM in 2012. Little more than a decade later the lowly Jags are valued at $4.6B. George Steinbrenner bought the Yankees for about $10MM in 1973. They are worth $8 billion today. The Spanose family bought the Chargers for $70 MM in 1984. They are worth $5.1 billion today. Jerry Buss bought the LA Lakers for $16MM in 1979. They are worth $7.1B today. Fenway Sports bought Liverpool for about $380 MM in 2010. They are worth $5B today. The list goes on because ALL sports valuations have gone parabolic in the last few decades. Jerry did NOTHING special in Dallas. Please be better.

Florio? What's a Florio? He's a talking head, an entertainer. He's an actor whose script is to create controversy or lose his ratings. His pronouncements are no more interesting nor insightful than any of ours 'cept he's paid a lot to ham it up on camera. And he doesn't say anything we don't already know and discuss ad nauseum in this forum.

Florio is nothing but hype.

Keep telling yourself whatever makes you happy but to take an organization that was losing money and turn it into the most valuable in the world, I would call that quite an accomplishment.

Meh, easy to pile on Jones at this point...he's near the end and has accomplished more in this world than anyone on this site and more than 99.9% of humanity.

I am anti Jerry but I respect his accomplishments...
Yup.

They are cheering the Eagles, and hating on Dallas.

Of course, the Eagles push the signing bonus into the void years, and pay everyone league min base salaries.

That money is due someday.

We did the same with Martin’s final contract.

I gave you facts. From a ROI point of view Jerry did nothing other owners haven’t done. Pick up a book or go online and read about the history of the team. It was well established before Jerry came into town. Lastly don’t you feel a little bad spinning for a paternity dodging louse like Jerry?

Yeah, Jerry mentioning that right before the draft and then crickets after just feels like more carnival barking. Maybe something comes, but it probably won't. If it does, it probably isn't substantial. Maybe they sign Cooper.

It is just frustrating that we are working the fringes hoping for gold to drop from a tree at a heavy disvount. Entering the offseason, I didn't think we could do worse at rb and WR #2. Well as far as production from last year goes, that is where we are. Just really disappointing. Sure someone may surprise (like Dowdle did last year...btw I was fine letting him go). Although what we have seen from the Jones Cowboys, they always don't patch all the holes and it winds up killing the team.

Not a fan of what Jerry has done or not done. Really trades, trades require 2 to tango. Would Florio give him a better articel if he did those trades and got fleeced or would he have done an article about how its better not to trade if you get fleeced int he deal.

His show is one of the worst on tv so I'm not surprised.
He's a hack like most of the professional sports commentators. They will say anything (especially about Dallas or Jerry) to get clicks and publicity.

Not even worth my time to click on the link.

Florio is not wrong. Jerry has been atrocious with the contracts of his players. We all know it. It's not like this is a secret. We can go back to Zeke's $15 million per year deal. We all saw Zeke was slipping. He looked slower than rookie Zeke and his yards per carry number had been declining every year since he was drafted. Jerry gave Zeke a contract that was guaranteed to force the Cowboys to cut him. Zeke left Dallas and signed for 1/5 of what Jerry was paying him!

Jerry screwed up paying Steele so quickly. Now we are looking at Steele's numbers and talking about cutting him to save CAP space because he is not worth what he is getting paid.

Then Jerry paid Dak $60 million, the most of any QB in the league? Dak never earned that kind of money. Jerry gave him $40 million before that and I don't think Dak was worth that at the time either.

Jerry took his time getting CeeDee's contract done. CeeDee missed the entire offseason and most of training camp/preseason. Who knows how that affected the Cowboys at the beginning of the season. And again, Jerry waited until other WRs had signed which set the contract amount for the Cowboys.

Now Jerry is again dragging his feet with Micah Parsons and in all likelihood Parsons will get about $5 million more than he would have gotten a few months ago.

Sure, it's just a few million difference, but the numbers add up when he does this with multiple players.

I heard Troy Aikman recently on an interview after the draft with a local Dallas sports radio station. Troy was reminiscing about being drafted #1 in the NFL draft in 1989, Jerry’s first as Cowboys owner.

Troy dropped an interesting tidbit that even before the Jones era had started on the field, Jerry was already playing weird contract games. In those pre-salary cap days, the team with the #1 draft pick could negotiate a contract with the player they had already decided to draft.

Aikman said Jerry dragged out the negotiations and even threatened Troy that they would draft someone else if he didn’t agree to Jerry’s terms. Troy laughed and said, “Jerry doesn’t always understand when he doesn’t have leverage.”

Jerry Jones is a billionaire pretending to know football and the inner workings, evaluations. He doesn’t have a clue. He’s playing a role.
He knows far more than anyone on here. He and the FO just are not doing it very well.

Florio is wrong? He is factually correct. Jerry is the ring leader of a circus. We aren't seriously chasing Super Bowl trophies. I laughed when Jerry claimed to be working on "2 serious trades". I knew he was full of it.
