Stephen Jones - Mingo, Tolbert & Flournoy all have the potential to be a WR2

Mingo's been in the league two years and the best thing they can say about him is that they had a 2nd round grade on him.
There's something in the theory that Schotty's been signed to develop (or catch lightening in the bottle), I wonder if this strategy was decided upon last year.

Not sure why all the worries. Tolbert deserves his shot at #2. He played well last year and besides he was a 3rd round pick. Mingo hasn't shown much. That was a bad trade just like the Lance trade was bad.

He needs to battle with a vet sign someone please

Well, it was good while it lasted..........feeling about the 1st three picks (lol)

I think the UDFA we signed, Holden has as good a chance as any of those lol at least he’s a good blocker in the run game and has good hands

- If Jones were truly serious about finding an impact, differencing-making No.WR2 , they would have drafted one. Simple and plan.

- I can only assume when WR McMillian was a target for Cowboys in 1st round, but once that fell thru, ..any and all other possible WR2 prospects in first round and beyond
were shot.

-Jones would much more rather play it out with whatever JAGs they have and hope coaches can scheme them to any kind of production while relying
very heavily upon Lamb.

-Are the Jones that much content and committed to stay at home mediocrity ?

If Mingo does his invisible man act, no more excuses. He's done. But what if he comes to life playing with a decent NFL QB? Stephen is right on this. Also, Flournoy is a guy to watch.

That's the thing, we can hope that a player reaches his potential and still make him prove it by beating out a vet for playing time. Too often, our best player for a starting role is only best because of a lack of competition.

Make them have to force their way into the lineup instead of getting there by default.

Horrible 4th round trade. Mingo has shown nothing but that he has WR4 at best potential. Could have used this year's 4th round pick on either Isaiah Bond or Dont'e Thornton Jr who either would be more productive than Mingo.
I’m going to wait to judge Mingo. I don’t know how to judge a guy who had Checkdown Cooper throwing him the ball.He had some juice coming out of Mississippi. We will see quickly though .

Mingo has been working tirelessly to improve his performance -- that's always really helpful. Let's not give up on Flourney, either. He's young and is likely to improve with additional development. Holden is a talented UDFA who might be one to watch in TC and beyond. He has size, talent and good possibilities.

Potential is that thing that's always there, so he's not telling a lie or trying to feed people a load of crap. It's true they have the potential, I would disagree and say that Tolbert has shown flashes when at times and he has not dropped the ball literally at times. Mingo we don't know because he was brought over in the middle of the season and he came from a bad situation in Carolina, where he was not able to show much of anything. Flournoy has also shown flashes albeit his was shown in TC, not during the regular season.
But here's the kicker for me none of the guys we have had gotten a legit opportunity to prove that they can be the 2, playing time is the only way that they can show if they are a 2.

He's also in the top 98th percentile with top speed, clocking 21.5 MPH.

I'm thinking that a contender would have more than veteran WRs with "potential" to be a WR2.

The Cowboys WR2 in the 90's could take it to the house. They were big play threats.

Both Alvin Harper and Rocket Ismael were guys that had to be respected for their ability to make big plays.

Both were 1st round draft picks or would have been if Ismael hadn't started out with the CFL. Both were capable of scoring anywhere on the field.

Both were legitimate day #1. They stretched the field, making things easier for the TE's and RB when catching the ball.

That player isn't on the Cowboys roster. He could have been in the 1st or 2nd round but we'll see if their decisions made more sense.

Perhaps they have that much faith in their speedy undrafted free agent, as well as Turpin.

I actually like Tolbert. Just not as a number 2. I would really like to get a closer look at Flourney. He has some measurables that are attractive. But he is a #5 or a guy that needs to earn the spot in training camp. I have no idea what Mingo is. It certainly isn't promising since joining the NFL. Personally I just don't see it. Although lets see what he offers in training camp. Regardless, they need more talent at WR.
