Exactly how bad was the culture with the last regime?

I don't think there was a problem with culture. Every coach talks about that... I don't think that means there was anything wrong with it before. Except for that GB playoff game, when something funny was going on with Quinn.

McCarthy couldn't get the team to play for him in big games.
They just had no respect they wouldn't walk through the fire or lay it on the line.
They made business decisions and didn't care about the outcome.
Every year the lack of discipline and penalties that were supposed to be squared away that never happened.
Who knows what we have now but it seems like it will be different in a positive way.
At least effort is being made to compile guys that care about winning football games not just collecting a paycheck at the end of the week

totally agree

one thing i dont think we can dispute is a lack of discipline under big mike. I think dallas had the 4th most penalties.
( and no, the refs arent out to get us)
The Dallas Cowboys are nothing but a bad movie...
freaking actors, loud mouth fools, dancing on the man's money you have. Can't you see this Star!

Fools do, not me until further notice.
cowboys on 1...2...guess the next number.

(Yes it's been beaten and talked about for so long sheesh there I said it)

With that said, how bad was our culture for it to be talked about so much in being changed? Were there guys not getting along, did Mike never spend much time trying to get to know his players better and build relationships?

Being that our head coach was here last season and was apart of the staff, gave him a clear view of what to see and change. Is there more to this, what about the culture that comes with the front office speaking before the coach speaks?? How about changing that culture?? Please give your thoughts
My thoughts are about DLaw. I really would like to know “the tea” (I think that’s what young cool people say now) about DLaw. I wish Mr Podcast would do a podcast on that subject matter. Or at least the change in culture and how Micah sees it. Or maybe Micah is part of the bad culture. I guess I wish I could hear the undisputed truth.

These are things I think about, these different options:
1. We have the same culture as everyone else in the league, we just suck and fans use the word culture as a coping mechanism
2. Jerry is like Dan Snyder and culture is ruining everything as some fans believe.
3. We don’t have a culture problem but we also don’t have true leaders on this team. We have a bunch of want to be leaders but no one like Aikman, Irvin, Emmitt, Woodson, Haley. Guys that absolutely hated losing and took losing very personal. We as fans are being bombarded with how great a leader “insert name “ is. Is this true? I don’t remember the Dallas media trying to sell us how great the 90’s Cowboys were at being leaders. Those guys just won Super Bowls.

I can see all as being options. Those are my thoughts

Dude, you’re the one who just a few days ago posted a thread calling on the board to stop talking about culture.

We’re getting whiplash.

I still think there was something funny going on with Dak and CD. They got really into really early in the game. Obviously this is speculation but it seemed their argument didn’t start at the game. I still can’t get over how out of sync they were for such an important game.

I also agree that Quinn was funny. Either he knew he was leaving or something.

The culture changes when Jerry hires two comfortable buses with full bar and takes each player and wife and or GF plus coaching staff to the Dallas arts district for a night of classical music and team building fun .

:starspin:

It’s just crap made up to make the Schottenheimer hire seem good.

Oh he’s gonna “change the culture”

They have to make that argument because they can’t justify the hire based on things like his past successes or his offensive scheme or anything else really.

NONE OF THIS culture stuff will help us win games in the Superbowl, we need guys to be tough play hard and not give up
