I give it a B.

A 3rd rounder next year is high for one year, but unless he implodes in a contract year, you should get a 2027 4th rounder comp pick at a minimum.

But they really must feel good about their chances to compete THIS YEAR.

It definitely gives them one of the better 1-2 receiver combinations in the league.

Come on you’re supposed to have vision , I’m worried about this season. I could care less about the next one.
I agree, lets just worry about 2025- 2026 we can deal with then. This guy is in a contract year, he'd be a fool to act up and get benched - that would just cost him future earnings. He should be very motivated to get that next big contract, that should be a very good thing. I like guys who have motivation like that

I gave it a solid B.

No doubt the kid is talented, but the fit raises questions. The team constantly preaches the importance of bringing in the “right kind of player,” yet they just traded for a wide receiver with a reputation for immaturity. If it works out, it could be a steal, but that’s a big if. Only time will tell.

All offseason....everyone saying this offense needed to get more explosive

They just added a WR who will go get the ball in the air and is a top 3 deep threat in the league to be their number 2....for a 3rd round draft pick.

Listen, they made their bed with #4. He is who he is....but we've seen him succeed atleast in the regular season with worse WRs than they have now.

Three big ifs right now from this team being able to compete
1. Health
2. Guyton making a leap
3. RB room working out

If they can somehow make the playoffs, you never know what can happen and that's good enough for the remaining years of Dak.

You can't get upset at the loss of a 3rd round pick, when they haven't won crap in 30 yrs. We should just hope they put the best team possible on the field every year and hope it works out....because they sure the heck can't build a championship contender.

A+ for me

Just think of all the former first round pics on this team with one year deals. It will be an interesting end of season, but that’s another subject. I can’t wait to see what happens this year. I’m excited.

For this situation, at this time, full F.

Maybe if he wasn’t a malcontent and/or your head coach didn’t just get done talking about “changing the culture” and “running the ball” it could be different.

Wait until he starts moaning over not getting enough targets in his walk year. Jerry gonna step in and fix that? Of course he thinks so, because HE is the defacto coach and why no one who actually stands on the sidelines can ever command a locker room with him around.

Further proof there’s no real plan. Their own actions contradict what they say….literally within days of each other.
This smacks of selling more tickets, staying relevant in the media, rather than addressing the long term problems this team has.
This is because our GM is much better at marketing than roster construction.

As has been posted already, it will be interesting to watch the whole culture part of the team evolve if/when Pickens's targets dont suit him.
Getcha popcorn reddy, lol!

B. I don't mind giving up a 3rd. Pickens is better than any receiver taken in the 3rd this year and probably next. I also don't have a problem with his attitude. From what I've seen he lost his cool on the field but I never heard about it in the locker room. He's a diva WR...shocking.

My only problem with Pickens is production. 12 TDs and 174 receptions over 3 seasons is pretty poor. I realize his QB play has been spotty, but Dak's middle name is Spot and he's not the type of QB who's going to throw Pickens open. Then if Pickens does come in and solidify the WR2 position he'll want to be paid. We all know that's a problem within this organization.

I do give Dallas credit for trying to get better at WR. Regardless if you like the players or not, making trades for both Mingo and Pickens is an attempt to get better. It's on the staff now. A new offensive coordinator, WR coach, passing game coordinator, and assistant WR coach are fresh starts for both the organization and these players.

I thought the RB room would be the most interesting battle to watch in camp this season. The WR room just said hold my beer.

Solid B.

Very very good WR. A true legit player that you know can play at the NFL level.

Some attitude problems.

I do think they need to sign him long term for it to be worthwhile though.
I said B too. He’s an actual WR2. The one year left is an issue but overall like the deal. But it makes giving a 4th for Mingo look like an F since we have better options at WR3 than Mingo

B-

It's a savvy trade but for the wrong player and wrong position.

Infinitely better than the Mingo trade.
Makes Mingo trade go from a C- to a F-
Literally wasn’t a4th for a WR3 who shouldn’t even be 3 most of the time since we have better options. But picken a solid b, only gripe is the one year but would have cost more if he had more years. Huge improvement at WR2

Yeah let the complaint department begin

because they don't like anything Jerry does so they're going to call this guy a misfit locker room cancer and all that nonsense!!

this just elevated our wide receiver group from questionable after lamb to top 5 duo in the league and it makes Tolbert and Turpin even better because their depth is now at 3 and 4 when you add in Jaden blue what he can do out of the backfield with juice this tree just makes our offense all of a sudden dangerous in my opinion I know we have to see it on the field. They're working hard to fix the offensive line and now receiving threats since since the offseason and the draft this is an A plus trade this just makes it harder for teams now who are they going to double are they going to try to stack the box on the run and leave these dudes on the outside with all this talent it elevates the entire offense....
and as usual you ignore the possible problems he brings

3rd next draft, swap 5th and 6th in 2027
Ok that's good. The Cowboys could get that pick back by trading back next draft. But Pickens is going to cost a lot in an extension. Something I did not think the Jones boys would do.
