-Excellent complement to Lamb, where teams will think twice about doubling Lamb on every pass

-Late Day 2 pick isn't a big cost, considering his age and production. There won't be a better receiver to draft in the 3rd rd.
-Dak/Lamb just signed big extensions, it will be up to them to keep Pickens in line.
-Jerry always does an extensive background check around the league about the player.
-He has never been an off the field problem with the law, is well liked, where he simply needs to grow up.

A no brainer. They got the best receiver available no matter how it turns out and they got the best guard and team leader in the draft.

He is actually one of the best down the field threats as well. Had to find someone who takes away all that double coverage away from Lamb. If Pickens can consistently do that, it would open up our passing game.

Jury is out on his character, we will find out if he is just immature like Dez or more of a problem. Adding many leaders should help them handle such a player.

Even if you try and line up all the highly improbable what IF question marks being answered in one season, this team would still fall miserably short of a trophy.

So if that's the risk to reward grading scale you're implying I think it's a losing proposition.

Now for the drama and entertainment value it's a home run.

But it sure doesn't seem to fit this so called culture change thing they've been preaching though.

His attitude will fluctuate according to the win-loss record and his touches. If we're winning and he gets his touches, he'll be okay. If we're losing and he's not getting his touches, he's going to be, well, touchy, and we'll see the George that made Tomlin want to get rid of him.

Either way, the Cowboys upped their news relevance for the offseason and into the new season, AGAIN!

Short term it is a solid pickup. Long term remains to be seen. This team primarily uses draft picks for team building. Giving up a day 3 pick which equates to a possible 4 year starter for a 1 year rental is a risk. If this was a year the team was going all in then it would be worth it even if Pickens moves on. So now keeping Pickens becomes somewhat of a higher priority or they need to use another high pick (day 1 or 2) next year to again address the situation. I hope his head is on straight, I hope they figure out something long term, The NFL is better when the Cowboys are winning games.

Yeah I think in the short term it's great for Dallas. The guy is what we desperately needed. Young, fast, long, athletic, a good contested ball receiver and a very dangerous deep threat. To get him for what they gave up is a good deal.

Long term I worry a bit more about his issues. Time will tell if he matures and excepts his new role. Winning will go a long way to helping that issue.

My boss is a huge Steelers fan and I told him about the trade and asked him what his thoughts were. His response was "Really? I wish the coaching staff (Pittsburg's) would get traded to Russia!" He wasn't very happy about it.

Hmm... okay you sold it to me. But it's too late to take back the F that I graded the trade in the other thread.

We all know Mike Tomlin is a great guy. My biggest concern is if he can't control Pickens, I don't think anyone in our organization can. People said Mike was crazy for moving on from Antonio Brown. Turns out he was right about that. Let's hope Pickens doesn't turn out to be another Antonio Brown.

Didn't happed this yr, but they did recoop their pick last year when they traded back. Point is, they can always get more picks.
