I do believe prior to the draft I thought we had no chance at making the playoffs. After the draft I was 50/50. Now with Pickens on board that changes everything. Barring injury we’ll make the playoffs, even with rookie Schotty. Then Dak can prove if he is or isn’t trustworthy in the big game.

I feel with a strong offensive line and a great WRs and an adequate to good running game Dak can play in a playoff game with less on his shoulders. He won’t be asked to win it all. I feel this team, barring injury and massive suckage from the RB, is the best supporting cast for Dak since 2016. Like I said earlier in the thread, this will be the year Dak can prove the haters and the homers right.

I'm more of a sceptic (based on Dak's anxiety led capitulation in clutch moments), but I must agree that at least now he's got a pretty decent balanced Offense, an Offense that a top paid Franchise QB should be able to succeed with. Dak's not getting a better Offense, this is as good a unit as he's probably ever going to have with us.
I'd go as far as saying that this is a watershed year.....succeed and Dak stays and Pickens is extended (and we draft Defense in 2026), or we fail and the FO have to accept that we wont get there with Dak and seriously consider not guaranteeing up the 2027 (2026 will be tough, but Jerry saves $100m in 27/28).

Temu Dak…great analogy. Dak is a good QB. I think physically he can do the job although his skillset is declining a bit. His biggest problem is between the ears. You can see it in his eyes. He chokes.

I have watched thay play more times than I want to admit and I have no problem with him running the ball as the center of the field was wide open, and he had just enough time to pick up ten yards and then clock it.

The issue is he went from the 39 to the 24....if he goes from the 39 to the 29 they are able to clock with at least 1 second on it. Yes it's a risk of course and you can see that the wrs were surprised as they didn't hustle back until they turned and realized what happened.

Also, he has to tell the team in the huddle no matter what, when the whistle blows they turn and sprint back to their spot in the case he is sacked or has to run, which he clearly didn't do as the leader.

There is also the issue of not getting out of the Refs way so he could touch the ball and make it live to snap.

In short - running was not as big of a concern as was the lack of situational awareness, leadership to prep his team for scenarios and basic execution.

I personally think running was a mistake, but you make a great case. That's a really good breakdown thanks.

“He” didn’t win 12 games three straight seasons. Also, Dak homers keep stealing games from Rush who was QB for five of those victories in one season.

He’s not a terrible QB—in general. Only against big non-division games in the regular season against teams with solid defenses and in the playoffs.

Dak’s playoff record is 2-5. A win in Green Bay puts him at 3-4. If you’re going to stick up for Dak at least get the simplest of stats correct. Pro Football Reference is our friend.

Dak isn't the only mediocre to subpar QB in our history. He had one great season, and a few great games after that in his prime, but ultimately wasn't good enough to win it all. Next QB up. It's not Dak's fault Jerry was dumb enough to make him the highest paid player in the NFL after the writing was already on the wall. I just want to move on the next experiment.

For the record I completely agree and didn't like the run, but could have tolerated it had it been executed correctly - as quickly as he took off i thought it was a designed run but the way the team got back to the ball it seemed like he improvised.

Daks going to have to take a step this year in terms of how he reads plays and brings the team together - i really think they have a potential to be incredibly balanced which should help but dak has to really understand what the defenses are showing him and adjust.

We shall see!
 
It's going to look like the 2016 Cowboys instead of the 1991 Cowboys. This will be a run first team and then throw the ball. Jerry wants to protect his $60 mill asset.

You're more likely to find a herd of unicorns before Dak winning anything meaningful.

As for Milton - clearly college performance isn't an indicator of NFL success or failure. The perfect example is the GOAT himself, Tom Brady. His college career was so unremarkable he wasn't picked up be the Patsies until the 199th pick in the 6th round of the 2000 draft. Roger Staubach wasn't drafted until the 10th round. How did both of those QB's turn out?

I'm not saying I'm a Milton fan, not at all, but he clearly needs some playing time to see what he can do. His NFL career consists of 1 game played, 22/29 for 241 yards and 1 TD. That's it. If he can compete with and challenge Dak, great, and maybe that's why he was brought on board. The powers that be be might have seen the light, that #4 is now injury prone and there are major concerns. It just sucks that #4 was given a franchise crushing contract before someone came to that realization.

If Dak were part of the Iggles squad last season they don't win #2. Dak will never be able to run the tush push like Hurts and without that play in the arsenal there's a good chance they don't even make the playoffs or go one and done.

Dak would have had a better chance if he were part of the KC squad, but Dak lacks the mobility Mahomes has and that would have hurt their offense tremendously. They would had to rely on the defense more and it wouldn't have been enough.

I said “we” not he won 12 games three straight seasons. Most of those games were won with him at QB.
