If Blue is legit

Blue is a speed RB who needs space and open field. Shotty has preached a power run game, so Blue doesn't fit that mold. Blue will be a good 3rd down RB but don't run him in between the tackles. Cowboys invested in the iOL heavily, so look for inside run plays, which, means there will be a more powerful RB to handle the main RB spot.
His tape shows him running between the tackles effectively. If there is a crease & he hits it, there better be a defender in great position or he's going for big yardage.

Sure, he needs the rotation to pound the defense but until proven otherwise, I think you can call any running play with him in the game.

OT position really scares me. Steele and Guyton were both traffic cones last year. And we didn't sign a vet OT that makes me feel comfortable with letting them play if Guyton struggles again. Maybe they wait til after the 53 man cut down aka the second FA to sign someone? The olineman we signed in FA would be lucky to even make the team lol. Maybe the oline scheme and coaching works wonders for Steele and Guyton.

I feel good about it even going into year 1.

Beebe should be much better in year 2 and I think he’s got high upside. He’s a Mauler.

Tyler Smith is elite already.

Booker is our question mark.. I’ll take that.

The tackles need to improve.

I think the middle of the pocket is going to be clean though which is a big deal in our division.

Dak can deal with the outside heat but inside heat is bad for him or any QB really.
Guyton is still a question mark too. While there is potential overall on OL I’d argue it’s too early to begin making these type of projections.

Blue played in 38 games over the course of 3 years.

In 37 of 38 games, he carried the ball 15x or less.

Let's pump the brakes on this guy being some bell cow RB, shall we?

Some of you are condoning expectations that are exceptionally high. He may become that. But so much more likely, he is going to be in a Tony Pollard role to someone else's Zeke role in his rookie season.

You guys are putting a lot on the back of a late 5th round rb....the likelihood is that it is going to be one of the vets we signed getting the bulk of the carries and blue will be a change of pace every once and a while
I think that’s the problem.

I actually really like Blue. I think he’ll perform akin to Pollard as a change of pace back.

Problem is, who is the bell cow?

TC will likely provide that answer, and honestly we may end up being a pure committee rb team this year and have to address the bellcow with a high pick next year

None of the current RBs amounted to much. They weren't accomplished in college either, like Zeke and DeMarco were.

Blue is more of a slot WR than a RB. Don't get me wrong, love the pick, and he should be relevant. Not a bell cow, though.
Remember Troy Brown? He's got a lot of things he can do well. I agree with you somewhat. But I think his best trait will be his RB prowess. I think you can line him up anywhere and he will flourish. I just don't want him taking bellcow RB type carries, it will limit what he can do speed wise, wearing him down too quick. I think at first he will be gadget guy, a Swiss army knife coupled with Turpin in certain packages. Sometimes he will be the tail back on a series, but other times he will be a slot wr. That's why I love his game. It causes the defense headache's. Many got him labeled as a one trick pony, a change of pace speed guy. But it's not true. I want him getting about 12 touches a game. Keep him on a pitch count. Keep him fresh, and healthy for the playoff push. Don't run the wheels off him .

The tackles are question marks. Can Dak be good again? Can Ferguson bounce back? Will Pickens be the over the top threat? Is this RB group good enough? All legitimate questions. I think the probability of these working out are all good. For me the biggest question is #Shotty. If we are being honest he has been a garbage OC his whole career. I hope the playing calling is nowhere near him.

Did you write all of this down and remember it from the previous years of rants from the fans, I could see that!
I don't take ideas from others to make up threads or posts. :lmao:

At least you know and remember that fans like to rant though.
Thank you for your thoughts.

In Seattle he had a limited QB yet got to a SB. Here, they did win 12 games 3 times in a row. But as you know, being a hc and the true OC both, comes with a different feel to it. He might be great , or he might be awful. I don't think there will be any middle ground. It will be feast or famine out of the chute. I feel like he's got a lot of what he needs to be highly successful. We will see.

Left-handed QB. Not a huge leap at all. Only thing he needs is some technique and footwork improvements.
I would assume he’s added some strength and has a full season of reps. He may not be a stud but if he can just cut the penalties in half and play half way decent then that’s gonna make an impact

Its possible but will all depend on TC. Historically, 5th round rbs are not usually successful and I would not pin much on him in terms of hopes for a fantastic rb, the odds just aren't in his favor.

The other issue is if he does get a few snaps and then the fumbles come, he's going to get sat down fast.

Speed is great but he needs more than that to be successful, I would bet on the 2 fas way before him at this point...not to say i wouldn't be thrilled to see him look like a top rb but I just don't see it
He’s not gonna be carrying the load but I’d use him 8-10 snaps, and get him involved in multiple reciever sets too. I watched his route running and he looks like a WR out there. Him and Turpin can make some impact plays if you get them the ball

I love Blue. I think we got a steal. However, w/ his frame, we're going to have to be careful not to overuse him. It's really that simple. Give him around 15 touches a game.

The only argument I'm seeing here is that some are arguing he should be the bell cow back, meaning 20-30 carries per game. The NFL has a long history of guys w/ slimmer builds at RB not lasting very long, and that is what I don't want.

Not sure that matters since you are still playing against the same pass rusher either way
It matters because he was the blind side protector, similar to the OLT position for a right hander.

Guyton has some serious skills, it's just a matter of him adjusting to the footwork. The changes should just be a matter of time. I mean, Guyton has top 5 OLT skills. Yes, he was bad last year, but he shouldn't have been thrust into the starting role as a rook. Stupid Jerry, should've signed an OLT vet until Guyton was ready. I hope they didn't ruin him by playing him too soon. Sometimes you do, and sometimes the player gets the experience he needs to improve there. Just hoping it's the latter.

The penalties are strictly about the footwork and handwork adjustments. He defintely need to get stronger.

Couldn't they put Smith at left tackle and Guyton at RT? This way he's not on Dak's blind side.

I think we agree completely. I was thinking 15 touches a game, same area.
