Who do you have more confidence in Mazi or Guyton moving ahead?

I really did not like either pick and nothing they have done since joining the Cowboys has changed that.

Guyton has never looked like an NFL tackle to me. I think the only chance he has is to move him to guard and hope he gets better by next season.
This is my opinion as well and in a whole lot less words than I used, lol.

In order to give an educated response we’d need to know the mental makeup of both players. Their attitude because both have the physical tools so it comes down to how much do they want it. None of us know about that aspect.
The guys who cover OU claim Guyton is hard to motivate and is slow to learn. That's somewhat of an indicator, but you're right. We don't know what his attitude/mindset is at this point of his NFL career. Maybe the new staff can light a fire under his fanny? He and Mazi just might need a boot camp drill Sargeant type to get them going.

What we have heard, Guyton is immature needs to grow up and Mazi struggles with confidence. Neither appear to be mentality tough
What YOU’VE heard from the internets. You don’t spend every day with them so you have no clue.

Guyton's shown something, Mazi has shown nothing. Mazi's "lightbulb coming on" games are like 4th DT level quality, and he got handily outplayed by Jordan Phillips coming off the street.
This is one of the things the Eagles are very good at and the Cowboys struggle with. They admit their mistakes and correct them, Cowboys hold out hope that they will somehow develop and make a leap.

That's what the people close to the team have reported.
Who heard it from someone else. Look, if you want to give up on a player because you heard through the grapevine a players lazy, then so be it. He may very well be lazy I don’t know but regardless, you don’t know him personally so you don’t know if he can or will change. You just automatically give up based on nothing.

Guyton.

But that’s only because I have 0% belief in Mazi at this point and would be shocked if he turns into even a decent DT.

Guyton I have serious worries about but, he is still very raw. So there’s still growing to do before we truly know.

Who says I am giving up on the player? Mentioned in my opening post that Tyler Smith had the same penalty issues as a rookie.

....Guyton for me. For being Rook and thrown out there with NFL men. He did better than ok.

I watched him few times. He looked lost, even confused at times. But when he found his man, job got done.

I'll be optimistic and say both.

If camp rolls around and we are hearing negative things throughout, plus see poor play in preseason, I will adjust accordingly.

Both players are still young and a leap can be possible.

That's right. Guyton is faking it till he makes it. The only problem with that is you can't fake being able to play LT. Either you can or you can't.

People say moving Tyler to LT is a big mistake. But I don't see it that way. I think it makes you better.

I honestly do not believe a coach like Shottenheimer would honestly be counting on Guyton either. It may have been fine before. But too risky with Dak's recent injury history.

You can see it in his job performance and interviews. I totally think that's what's going on.

My answer is Mazi. He showed improvement year 2.

C) neither. After Duke Manyweather let it slip in the off season wondering about Guyton's desire after the floater he left in the bowl last year, i am not optimistic. Mazi looks like your typical overdrafted by several rounds, one contract player.

Hard to say because the anecdotes I hear for both is that there are questions about their work ethic and love for the game. Those are things fans will never know for sure.

All that said, I like what I’ve seen from Guyton much more than Mazi thus far.

That is just strange….have some regular season success, then draft much lower, and the players you end up with aren’t as good. Amazing!

Still, they count on those types to be immediate impact starters. Need a starting left tackle? Just grab one at 27 and plug and play.

Still can’t figure out why we can’t win since our GM/s are better than everyone else according to themselves.
