Twitter: Our Starting Running Back come Week 1

The best thing for the team will be if the 2 rookies are the backs.
Have to see if either can block. In a lot of situations they have to block on passing downs. But I do want to see a lot of them in PS to see how complete there game is. Both rookies can catch so that’s a big plus. And blue is a really good route runner so that’s can be something we use

For different reasons, the Cowboys have a lot to figure out in their running back and cornerback rooms going into OTAs, especially in regards to how the depth chart will shake out and how much they'll have to dip into their depth.
At running back, the Cowboys signed Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders in free agency, and added Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah through the draft. The running back by committee approach didn't work as well as Dallas wanted it to last season, but do the Cowboys have a clear-cut bell cow running back that can handle a majority of the workload, or will they have no choice but to resort to a by-committee look?

Schottenheimer has placed a heavy emphasis on running the football, so it'll be an important position to watch given the expected use of the running backs in his system.

The cornerback room for the Cowboys has plenty of talent, but also a lot of injuries that have stacked up dating to last season. Trevon Diggs is still recovering from his season-ending knee injury, and third-round draft pick Shavon Revel Jr. is also still nursing a torn ACL injury. Revel is expected to be ready for training camp while Diggs is expected to miss the beginning of the 2025 season, leaving two less bodies on the field during important reps. DaRon Bland is a given to start on one side, but who can the Cowboys rely on to play opposite him and in the slot? It's a vital question that needs to be addressed for Dallas, and the competition begins in OTAs for a coveted role.

It will be a committee. I hope it is a different player every game. Just so half our fans will lose their minds.
I think almost definitely a committee which is fine. My guess is Williams is the starter, at least early in the season. I think Blue will get the second most touches early on and hopefully will be getting the most by seasons end.

I don’t know who I think will be the #3 guy. I almost feel like Sanders won’t make the game day roster or perhaps the 53 at all. If he is not one of the top two (and I don’t personally think he will be) and he doesn’t run down on kickoff and punt units it will be tough to roster him when a guy like Luepke can. And if Mafah makes the 53 (I think some are assuming a little too much for a 7th round rookie in his first year) I think he looks like he too will play STs. So Sanders may need to beat out Williams or Blue for one of the top two spots to be active on game day and after watching him the last 2 years I don’t see that happening.

I prefer the best backs get the reps.
No anointing later round players because theres some man crushes in our fanbase

If he (or Mafah, or Williams, etc) earns it, then fine

Blue has to fix his fumbling issues and I don't think he has the body type to take more than 10-15 touches a game.
