I didn't say I wouldn't support the team, I said I don't believe any of the changes that have been made will do anything to turn this ship around. Drinking the Jones cool aid, before pre-season no less, that somehow "Shotty" and his new culture have us on course for a superbowl isn't for me. I don't believe it. Make an NFC championship and I'll happily eat crow, but I wouldn't bet one red cent on that happening.

As I posted in other threads. I am not expecting miracles.
As in 2024 they replaced no players lost in FA, but a few tier 5 guys. Relied upon the draft.

In 2025, they replaced players for once, to counter whothey lost.
None of those moves was getting better players, but not worse ones either.

Also with the new coaching staff, what seems to be a solid staff. And another sold draft. Even though nothing is proven yet on the field. I can see why some are optimistic. Because there has not been this much change for a very long time.

To me, it makes it more exciting to watch it unfold, and see if they improve as the season goes on. There will be growing pains and many of them.
 
i really do not know how to grade schottenheimer yet without even coached one preseason game yet. so far he sounds like jason garrett part two right now to me. all talk but no substance or proof that he will be a good headcoach.

That show was complete BS. The short dude beat out Jesse Holley. Yet they awarded the victory and chance to try out for Cowboys to Holley. I forget that guys name but he went to play for the Bengals.
 
I've already seen enough to know that Schotty is just more of the same. This is Barry Switzer part 6.

He is there to keep the owner and the owner's favorite players comfortable. That strategy hasn't worked for the last 30 years, yet here we are trying it again.

All of the DFW teams have been more successful than the Cowboys since 1996. Even FC Dallas has a trophy.

I missed it, exactly where did the cowboys breakthrough in the playoffs?

The issue this current team has is they have history to live up to between Landry and Johnson and older fans knew what winning the superbowl was like.

Add a owner who is arguably one of the worst GM's in the game, there is a reason why fans don't get their expectations up.

Younger fans may be able to get smoke blow up their arse with all this feel good crap when a regular game hasn't even been played yet, but I don't think that is the case with older fans.

So tell me how this is any different than the other first time head coaches you try to tell me that he's different than; Cohen ,ben Johnson ,Aaron Glenn, kellen Moore etc I don't want to hear anything about how they have history they have none it's all TBD but all you could do is what's right now not in the future so right now people have changed their minds about him up to this point that's all we got to go by the players like him the front office likes him and a lot of fans are now giving him a better grade than they did early on....

And by the way it kind of was like that for a lot of coaches Jimmy Johnson had to prove himself here and don't say he was successful in college so it was going to work because no that's not the case we already have guys like Myers and Nick Saban petrino and yeah even Chip Kelly all came and failed and failed hard so they all have to prove themselves they all start from square one..

Let's look back on guys like Dan Campbell hell Nick Siriani had less or at least about the same level of a resume coming into the Eagles and he was even being questioned by his own players in front of office for a while you thought maybe he was going to get fired and now he's a Super Bowl winning head coach and he had zero history that supported hiring him as a head coach....

WRONG! FAIL! Isn't it irritating when people start off replies like that?

The point of that post was that Schottenheimer hasn't done anything yet. The only thing we have gotten out of him are platitudes and speeches which anyone can do.

His resume as an assistant is not stellar, particularly given that his head coaches were frequently running the offense.

We shall see how he does. Hopefully you are right that he is a stud coach that Jerry identified (unlike Garrett). There is no evidence of that yet.

He hasn't done anything? He has been working his *** off.
 
..should Shotty care? I mean, do your job, get this team over the hump. That will take care of provisions dept.

Hold your horses, Johnny. I like some of the things I'm hearing coming out of Frisco, but Coach Schottenheimer hasn't proven anything. I was furious at the time of the hire. The emotions have calmed, no sense in holding onto negativity over something you cannot control, but he is going to need to work some magic to win me over.
