I agree. I think we see him mainly as a pass-down player and won't have him at end in running situations. The reason Washington didn't re-sign him IMO is because while he had 10 sacks, he can be a liability against the run.

One of our main issues might be that we seem to have pass rushers who are questionable against the run and run defenders who are questionable against the pass. That's not that unusual, but one reason offenses pass when a run might be expected is to take advantage of personnel mismatches. If we have Kneeland, Turner, Mazi and Toia in the game, for instance, it would make more sense to pass than to try to run against that front.

We don't have two many DL who are great against both the pass and run.

I think they said the only blitzing that Eberflus likes to do is maybe CB blitzes, either way i'm not a fan of blitzing, I feel like there's too much left at stake when you don't get to the QB and the Qb ends up making a play by beating the blitz

Yeah, he likes to bring the slot when he does blitz, which is why it is one of the most important positions in his scheme. In Chicago, he did up his blitzing some because his team couldn't create enough pressure with his front four.

So his focus is stopping the run or it's been KNOWN that he wants to do that. I'm sure none of us are seeing this right now, partially with the drafting of JT but why not get another big beefy body in here to help stop the run. We could have started this out earlier when it was FA

Yeah, hopefully at least one of our other ends can create pressure consistently enough that teams can't just focus on Micah. Having Micah means we're going to have a pass rush, but it (and he) becomes far more effective if someone else can win their matchup regularly.

Quinn liked to move Micah around for mismatches, but he also liked to stunt the other linemen because while Micah was fighting through double-teams and still pressuring the QB, other ends like Armstrong could loop around and clean up the mess that Micah created.

There's a reason that Armstrong had 8.5 and 7.5 sacks in 2022 and 2023 despite only starting 6 games. The five sacks he had last year in 15 starts (in the same scheme) is probably his ceiling without someone like Micah drawing offenses' attention. Now, Fowler had more sacks in Washington than he had with us, but I think some of that was a product of him needing to play more instead of being a sub for Micah. He had no starts with us and seven with Washington. He played 564 defensive snaps in Washington and 270 the previous year with us.

I heard someone say that a bit ago, how Micah is drawing up all the attention and it's imperative that SOMEONE else beats their man with all the attention focused on micah. It's the truth, we have to be better, I think we'll see good things i'm excited

Right. And that's the advantage of moving him around. It's easier to double- and triple-team if he stays in one spot. Hopefully, if we're going to pin him to a spot, someone else can regularly beat their one-on-ones.

With him staying in one spot i always felt it was easier to know where exactly he's going to be at, but i'm fine with him being in one spot i'm old school! A lot of the great rushers didn't really move around

Yeah, it doesn't mean Micah can't win because he's that good. It just makes it harder for him to win if no one else can defeat one-on-ones. Chips, doubles and triples also will wear him down.

We've long had the " fast & furious " built defense to play with a lead , but when it finally come the time that we get a DC and front office personnel help
that believes in " Out-Phyiscal " the opposite tam ..?

If we go over all of the reputed top defensive teams & units, how does our past schemes , past DC coaches and our player personnel per front office
compare to theirs ..?

How different is Eberflus than Marinelli. Marinelli was big into stunts and Dallas got gashed constantly by teams going the other way.

And pass defense, didn’t teams view Kris Richard’s cover 3 as too basic?

I’m skeptical Eberflus will work because of the deficiencies that were here the last time he was on staff.

I get what you're saying that the pass rush might be the strength and we be better with the lead but I prefer to wait to put a label on this defense since we haven't even seen one game yet...

Overshown , when he returns, could be beat at off the ball LB creating havoc up the middle and chasing plays down. It is definitely a group that won't need to blitz.. That will help keep guys in gaps and help the run game even if they're not the best at it they can add focus to the run game because they don't need to blitz to create pressure...

I'd like to see Overshown with CJ Anderson coming up the middle. Look, I like Overshown and won't deny he makes plays but I don't know about him and his size in terms of where he fits.......
