News: Fish/Skip: Jerry quoted saying he offered Micah almost $200M guranteed

Then I'm sure David can corroborate that since I'm sure Jerry and/or Stephen Jones sent the offer over to him.

If not, then there was no official offer. That was merely a preliminary conversation without the agent receiving the offer.

he wants a three years deal so he can get one more big contract after that
Might be a four-year for him, but if the front office is talking about guaranteeing $200 million, it probably wants six. Micah's agent won't want to commit to six years because that may push him past his ability to get that next big one.

No one is good enough to turn down $200 million dollars guaranteed. If this is true, Micah needs a CAT scan.
Guarantees come in a shapes and sizes. It could be tied to each year with requirements. We would have to see the details to form an honest opinion.

It could be $50M guaranteed each year if still on the roster. GM Jethro obviously wants to protect himself from an injury.

Diggs contract blew up in Jerry's face with injuries and lack of urgency rehabbing.

Dak gets injured and misses significant time after signing a huge contract.

Micah is undersized, is constantly double teamed and miss some games last season. So it is obvious a factor for him and top of mind.

GM Jethro holds all the cards this time, for once.
So automatically assuming or saying this is the same exact scenario as previous seasons is incorrect.

If GM Jethro gets walked in by Micah's Agent when GM Jethro is holding all the cards, he is just going to look like an even bigger Buffoon than he already is.

The issue could be the number of years. It could be related to T.J. Watts contract.

Watts got 125 million over three years.

Common sense forces me to believe that 200 million was for a five year contract.

Well, that's 40 million a year for 5 years. Typically, the more years you sign for, the larger the yearly average of the contract.

His agent would probably argue that if Watts gets 41.66 million per year on a three year contract then Parsons deserves at least 42 million per year, probably more due to the length being five years.

That would make it a 210 million contract, at least. I'm guessing his agent is possibly going for something like 180 million over 4 years, making it 45 million yearly.

Yeah, I'm on little Micah's side on this. Think about it? Who in the world can live on 200 million dollars? Plus more. Poor fool.

Just give the brat what he wants and get it over with. Don't forget some warm milk so he can sleep good. Put it in is sippy cup.

Or just trade him. Problem solved.

TJ Watt and Garrett are at 41 and 40 mil per so I’d expect Parsons to receive more.

Players dont want longer contracts cause they know Cap keeps going up and top salary now might not be top 10 in 3 or 4 years.

I’d bet 180-200 for 4 years gets it done . That 45-50 mil per year.

40 mil per year isn’t going to get it done.

If the two highest are at $40 and $41 million, why do we have to go to $45- $50? Makes no sense if Watt got $41 last month to go more than 20% higher.

We did this with Dak at $60 when the highest was $55. $56 would have reset the market and left us money.

Didn’t hear in those comments that he offered 200 mil. to Micah.

What I did hear was an often over-exaggerative owner speaking in general terms about the process of making deals with high profile players when dollars approach 200 mil.

Is Jerry rounding up when he says almost 200 mil.? Is it really 160? He left himself plenty of room to back peddle with what he said.

Nothing concrete here. Just an old man reminding you that for a very long time he’s been playing in a sandbox that you can only visit in your dreams.

Jerry is bucking up to the agent. The agent is trying to take it over the top. Jerry is stonewalling him because he gave an honest deal.

That is the story arch, which seems like it may find resolution right before or right after game 1.

If not by then, next season.

Whatever the deal really is, I still think all this back and forth drama is staged.

In Jerry speak that’s $5 million guaranteed and $195M in incentives…

I don’t believe it for a second

Cause that’s how we do it. Lol

But yea, 42-43 should do it. But not now . Jethro blew that window. Micah doesn’t even want to be here. It’ll cost us more to keep him.
