THIS IS WHAT I WISH MICAH WOULD DO, not that Houston is better in any way, not saying that. Micah has the tendency to continue rushing up the field and NOT coming back inside like Houston did right here!!!!

I think both Houston and Winfrey make the team,I would trade Sam Williams if he is not in our long term plans.

I’m thinking that Miles Sanders gets cut.

Tolbert gets traded if they can get anything for him.

Tough decisions at TE. Can you get anything for Schoonmaker?

Offensive line depth looks solid. Better than I expected. Options if either of the projected starting tackles struggle.

Defensive tackle is still meh, and cornerback is still a concern until some guys get healthy.

Is Diggs a trade candidate when he gets back?

Imagine all the rookies and vets sitting on pins and needles right now. All the sleepless nights wondering when and if the axe will fall. Many dreams are about to hit a speed bump. I can't help but feel sorry for those youngsters about to get the dreaded call.

Will Parsons let the team know if he plays without a new contract?

If no, can the team put him on NFI?

He hasn’t practiced and there is no evidence that any injury he has is Dallas Cowboys related.

Would that then hold his rights for the Cowboys and allow them not to pay him?

They likely want another vet option behind Williams. Mafah was a 7th rounder so they likely think they can release him and he will make it back to the practice squad. It happens every year. We like a player but the staff just doesn’t love them.

Spann-Ford is a solid blocker. Fergy catches passes, Schoon is always hurt. I would see if you could get anything for Schoonmaker. Fairweather shower up in all 3 games.

Mingo will go to IR. By the time he returns, somebody will be hurt or banged up.

They likely go

Lamb, Pickens, Tolbert, Turpin. Brooks makes the 53 and Flournoy should also make it. It’s going to be tough putting 7 on the 53 before they put Mingo on IR. Little chance Holden or Cropper make the 53.
In two seasons , Schoonmaker has played in all 34 Dallas games.

I think everyone that says vahn should back up blue or makes the team is out of their mind. Experiment failed, time to move on. Mafah deserves his chance bc he's the only one that showed he can run through first contact. Stats aren't impressive for preseason but if you watched the games you'd realize that two big runs were called back bc of penalties that had nothing to do with the plays.
My problem with Blue is that he just can't stay healthy, it was ankles at UT and its still ankles. If Mafah had done the same and been hurt, id say risk him on going to practice squad. This forum loves blue but really has no reason other than he played for UT. He wasn't even the starter and he's only giving you 9-10 carries a game and hell get injured again. He's also not as dynamic as some here seem to think, he's fast but he's not a cutter or going to juke anyone in the open field. Who is going to get you the 3 yds in the red zone? Williams, no. Sanders, no. Leupke, no. Davis, maybe, we never really experimented with it, that guy would be mafah, he falls forward and likes to play physical.

Well hope that Blue can stay healthy. But really the situation for him is about staying healthy which he can't seem to do so.

If they can get anything for him, I’d trade Tolbert. Mingo injury or not.

I like what I’ve seen from Brooks, Flournoy, and Holden.
I'm with you. This is on my list.

My list to make the team better:
1. Cut Mazi.
2. Trade Tolbert.
3. running backs are Williams, Blue, Mafah and Luepke.
4. James Houston makes the team.
5. Cut or trade Schoonmaker. Spann-Ford, Fant, and Fairweather make the team.

I would be very happy with these moves. We get rid of Mazi and will have some dtackles that actually do something. We get something for Tolbert and get Flournoy on the field and get Brooks on the roster.

I think that the running back group will be good. I like the tight end group. I think they will keep Fant. His outside blocking is outstanding. I like the idea of moving on from Schoonmaker and adding Fairweather who can make big plays.

I don't think it's even close, I know people are trying to put Mafah on the practice squad, but you mean sometimes we have lost players and I know it's no big deal now but remember that big defensive tackle we exposed he got snatched up quick, what was the other guy was he safety linebacker hybrid was it Isaiah land or something, Maybe it was somebody else but people were upset he got taken.....

Sometimes when you think you're smart as a coaching staff and you think oh this guy will stay on the practice squad then we can make a decision, It can blow up....

IN My opinion, Mafah, he is exactly what they want They want, physicality, this guy falls forward, he's strong, he's big ,he may not have any dynamic abilities, but he can move sideways enough you know change directions but for regular run downs and short yardage and goal line..

you need to develop this guy...

I mean how do we know that Williams isn't just going to poop the bed? I mean he's being handed the RB1 role but we haven't seen him play, how do we know that Mafah's not better than him..? In real games behind the real line, I would like to see Williams, Mafah and Blue get most of the rotational carries.
They'll know about six games in or more which one should get more, and which one should get less... I would put Malik Davis on the practice squad, I like him better than Sanders, They do a lot of the same things, but I'll take the younger guy with less mileage and that's not banged up..

I know people are going to look at Deuce Vaughn and see that he's done good things but he's done this a lot in preseason and I like him I just don't think he fits this team because we already have players like him that can do it better in Turpin and Blue so he'll get picked up by another team You should cut him as a positive thing for his career he needs to go to a team that can utilize him on special teams full time in both return games and then use him as a gadget player on offense...

IMHO
If the rest of the NFL thinks we have the worst RB room I doubt opposing teams will be highly interested in the the guy that's 4th or 5th on the depth chart. Atleast they shouldn't be. In general I rather roll the dice with the guys that haven't gotten a lot of opportunities than a guy that has been around the NFL or hasn't shown much recently vs keep them based on name.

I think both Houston and Winfrey make the team,I would trade Sam Williams if he is not in our long term plans.
While I sort of agree with the sentiment, last year, among several issues, was the lack of depth at DE. DLaw went down, Kneeland was down for a bit, Williams was out for the year, Parsons missed 6* games... Then of course Dak went out and more fun.

Anywho, I would say keep him now till at least the TDL. See if the team is fighting for a playoff spot or imploded and how the depth at DE looks. While I like draft picks, giving away Williams for scraps and then losing a starter while pushing for a wildcard would hurt. Unless he's back to his boneheaded penalties.

I do not Care what anybody thinks,

I don't think it I don't think our coaching staff thinks it and if they want to under value and underestimate our running backroom, go ahead let them eat ,go ahead don't don't stack the box leave it open as i know they wil have to respect that passing game, Because behind the starting offensive line you're going to find out different, my eyes are telling me different..

Care where their draft status was Terrell Davis was a low draft pick There's been so many Hall of Fame in Pro Bowl undrafted free agents or players like Tom Brady and Brock Purdy Kurt Warner Tony Romo many others that went late and weren't thought of as much and then what happened?

Yes, you can get someone to take your guy off to practice squad you remember Ridgeway and I know he didn't turn out to be anything special and Isaiah Land I believe they put them on the practice squad and we thought they would be there for us to get and boom they were gone in an instant....

So, I realize that sometimes yes you can protect some of these guys and put them on the practice squad ,and other times you'll lose a guy that you should have kept, and in my opinion Mafah belongs on the damn 53 and I'm sticking with it..

He's been the most consistent player in practice and in the preseason at the running backroom ,that's what I saw ,he has game and that's all we need is a guy that can bang short yardage fall forward hand the ball up as much as you want to without him getting tired, he is a banger, he's big he has enough moves to be successful ,you don't need to be a high draft pick remember the running back room it was being devalued and guys were getting passed to 4-5th round, yeah he's going to be one of those, it was a deep running back draft the guy was hurt in college but I'm looking at his tape in college,

And now I look at what I'm seeing at practice at training camp and in preseason and I realize it's not real games, but my eyes are telling me he's better than you're giving him credit for it he may not be special but he's a more physical version of Rico....

He could be Rico right now not the Rico that took his 4th year to finally show out.. Also believe he can get us more touchdowns look at his college career at a real college in a real conference and he may not look special but you don't need that from one of your backs you can use in your rotation you need Thunder and lightning you need steady and if they think Williams is RB1 these other two have to make it these two rookies are better than everyone else IMHO

I like Mafah too, and rather take a chance with him over a Sanders or Williams. But as it comes to waiver claims the fact he was a 7th round pick, was solid in the preseason but not spectacular with 59 yards, a 3.9 average and 1 td makes me believe he could land back on the practice squad if cut. Again just a guess, but is it worth taking that chance for retaining a veteran guy like Williams and Sanders? We've seen what the both can do the last couple of years and it hasn't been anything inspiring even if they do carry more versatility in the passing game.

Personally I would decide between Williams and Sanders, keep Blue, and Mafah, then make a call if you want to keep a 4th between Vaughn and Sanders/Williams. Vaughn showed a little in the last preseason game that probably gets him back in the conversation.

I just don't know if there's room for a 4th with them likely carrying a FB as well.
