RELEASED *** Cowboys 53-player Roster Cuts/Released Thread ***

what is the plan with Revel? I barely have heard anything about his timeline.
About a month ago there was word about a "setback" that would cost him another 6-8 weeks. So he might be another month away from being able to do football things.

He could be back sometime in October or this might just end up being a redshirt season for him.

Stupid to cut Fant. I’d rather have him than Schoon.
No.
Schoonmaker more of a blocking TE and bigger than Fant.
I like Fant, but no clear defined role. This has been the issue the last two years.

Find a niche for him. He can play a little FB, come out and catch a few passes. However not a pass protecting, blocking TE. Teams will know what plays may be coming when on the field.

They waited until 13 other backs were selected in the strongest RB class in a decade before selecting a scat back out of Texas. Lamb and Pickens will terrify nobody as long as Dakota is throwing the ball. What Lamb and Pickens might have done though is freed some space for a bell cow running back that Dallas doesn't have. I get that you can get it done without superstars at tailback, but Rico would have been a superstar amongst this group.
No kidding. That's why I said the ship had sailed in April. I totally agree with your eval. But there was never anything we were going to do about it now.

Can someone explain the difference between released and waived?
Players who have not played long in the league (I think less than 4 years) have to go through waivers which allows other teams to claim them with the winning team being the worst team from the previous season usually.

Players who have been in the league a while (vested veteran) become free agents immediately and can sign with any team they want.

I think it has something to do with being able to be claimed on waivers. And a vet status type thing.
Waived meaning they are exposed to the waiver wire.

Released as a vet player means they are not.

I am not 100% on all of that. Or the exact rules. But it is something like that.

Also released means they can negotiate woth any team right away. As to waived, they must clear it first and not to be closed by another team, before negotiating with any team.

They wont.

Diggs, Bland, Elam are your starters.

Carson, Booth are your depth. I am sure somebody will sneak in if Carson goes IR
True. But I thought Clark might have made it at safety after Mukuamu was cut.

This is a surprise. Could make room for Alijah Clark or Zion Childress.
Might be for Carson if we are not putting him on IR. Diggs, Bland, Elam, Carson, Goodwin and Hall. Booth might get a spot if we go PS with Goodwin.
