Grade Schottenheimer's first season as HC

Like the guy and his message but no matter how you package it, he’s Jerruh’s mouthpiece. Granted he was neutered on his way in. Dude can’t even fire the historically bad DC. Any coach with half brain would’ve made a change there during the season. We know why he didn’t.

D+

C-

grading on a curve, with the understanding he's in over his head as a HC and only the 2 idiots running the show would hire him

He's mid. Then again so is the roster and the front office.

Parcells was correct, "you are what you are" and this franchise is on par with the Arizona's and Cincinnati's of the league.

C+

Gave the plus for him not trying to win today. Not much he could do with eberflus as the DC. Next year with a real DC let's see

He pulled me in about midway through the season, but my support has gradually decreased over the last month. Sloppy play and an observable lack of discipline is concerning. I don't know if he is the guy to build around, but I'm not ready to write him off either. He showed that his offense can win games. Give him a good defense and see what he can do. C+, maybe a B-.

C-. He'd get a B, if he hadnt ran his mouth about how important it is to end up at .500.
This would be my grade too. I don’t think he had a playoff-type roster this season, but we dropped too many winnable games against bad teams.

I don’t think he sabotaged the season with any of his decision making, which is about as far as I’ll go in my praise.

He was an unqualified hire who would garner no similar interest elsewhere in the league. I like the general vibe he brings and acknowledge he has some leadership traits, but it’s hard for me to see how he makes us better on game days.

His offense was supposedly elite but laid far too many eggs, got shut down in second halves of games and had a propensity to put the football on the ground.

C- here. First year coach essentially installed to fail in year one. Seemed to be learning on the fly in the early going. Made some questionable situational calls. He had at least 3 horrid games as a play caller. Had the best looking offensive scheme I've seen here in my lifetime. Still needs a real Tight End. Was able to hire some key offensive staff to make a decent looking running attack with what I would consider a mediocre OL.

His defense was historically bad. His special teams units regressed. He navigated the tragedy of Marshawn Kneeland well in my opinion and I simply just like him more than Garrett and McCarthy.

The only thing keeping this from being a D+ is coming back to beat the Eagles. Made this entirely frustrating season worth it.

See y'all in April to agonize over what players our buffoon 83 year old GM picks.

Are we sure hes better than Garrett?

Garrett never had a losing season with his QB healthy for the whole season.

Hes rhe head coach. He couldve at least demanded Flus to play more man and blitz more.

He allowed the incompetency on that side of the ball
could be truth to that. I'm still giving him one more chance but ultimately I still see him as a mid coach who needs elite talent.
