Adam Schefter on Brandon Aubrey storyline

Shefter is absolutely right that Aubrey is a weapon but he reminds of a child in a candy store when he says." Make him the highest paid AND then some"

Adults understand the salary cap and owners understand the ramifications of overpaying positions by 30%.

Of course the Brotherhood of Kickers and Sports Agents endorse Sheftys message

Thanks for taking down that version, you're a great person!!!! Now to Aubrey, we NEED him you know we love some field goals, but to give him 8-10 million, man that's a pass rusher or a LB, a safety we could pick up!! Sheesh

I get it but without knowing the full context of what Aubrey is asking for it’s tough to really say for sure. For example if he wants longer deal (5+ years) $10m isn’t the end of the world as the cowboys can just backload the cap hits and have Aubrey making a reasonable amount, just keeping up with inflation.

The other part to this is Aubrey is about a point per game stronger than a league average kicker (possibly slightly more depending on how you do the math). An extra point per game average is tough to duplicate for $3m on the open market. This could be the play his agent is trying to make? If so it’s a good argument that kickers are undervalued….at least top end ones.

Honestly, we are talking about a couple million a year in Cap money. All that is good for otherwise is dumpster diving. So why people here are crying about this then our other cap situations like Clark is just plain stupid.

The one thing I can't overlook is that BA has a canon for a leg, we all know that. But with the new kickoff rules it's more finesse that gets the job done. He does not use finesse on any of his FG attempts and before the new rule changes he would create touchbacks with every kickoff. I have not seen a consistent kickoff now that lands inside the 10 yd. line forcing a return. In fact he has at least 2 kicks OB! If he can adjust, fine but I wonder how this would reflect on his accuracy.

I don't see anything official that shows the Cowboys tendered Aubrey. Was he given a 2nd round tender?

If some team gives us a premium pick. I'll pack his bags for him. We can find kickers better than anyone.
Yep. And the day we lose games because we don’t have a kicker that can kick 60 yards is probably the day we have one of our better teams in recent memory. Chances are though are problems won’t be because of not having him.

take the premium picks, you pay these scouts and mcclay all this money so make them earn it and find another MLS kicker.

Maybe he will get more attention than we think?

Brandon is just trying to take care of his family after his NFL career is over. You want to talk about greed, let's bring Prescott into the conversation. If anyone in the NFL is overpaid AND over hyped that would be our lucky loser, the PAD DADDY!
