Signed by Cowboys Cowboys sign CB Cobie Durant

Seems solid, wonder why he could only secure a one year deal. Hopefully a bet on himself deal and he knocks it out of the park

That's a good get. He's at least a very solid CB. That takes some pressure off the young guys.

IMHO, so far JJ and co are doing a decent job. They need to keep it going by adding perhaps another DB and I'd love to see a quality MLB added, probably via trade at this point, as there isn't much left on the open market.
Agree. This one I never saw coming. I posed the exact topic about our woeful cb room yesterday. But was skeptical we would get a guy in FA. We need another . I like the signing a lot.

Seems like LB and DT/DE seem most likely with first 2 picks.

Don’t love going Allen, Rodriguez, Faulk, Woods at 12 but those are the needs.
Allen is actually pretty good. He would probably be a bit of a stretch at 12...but you probably have to take him. Gotta have your mike and readiness is a factor. I don't know who is better lower in the first compared to him. May be your best green dot guy after Styles and can start immediately. Lots of experience in SEC starts. Smart player. Rock steady. Won't have the pure athleticism of Styles but won't embarrass himself in coverage. Will play the run like a boss.

Woods is pretty good as well...however there is better value in the NT area. They don't necessarily have to draft one in the first round. There will be some good ones in the third...even fourth. You wouldn't prioritize DEs and NTs over OLBs if you are running 3-4 base. The Cowboys should be after ILB, CB, and Edge/OLB (maybe safety as well) for this draft in the first and third...or first, second and third if they move down.

CB room is much better with an addition of a veteran corner with starting experience. Bland, Revel, Durant, Carson, Butler, Stewart. Keep in mind, the nickel is going to be more of a safety in this scheme.
Correct and I think the nickel is still missing. I expect that to be addressed in the draft and very early

Sometimes a guy just slips between the cracks. We always see it. Its a numbers game in free agency. Needs versus wants. Maybe he wanted to be here but was waiting for things to get worked out. Sometimes its a matter of family situations. Could be he had family in Dallas and he needed to be here. These guys are human. Maybe CP targeted him as a fit. Either way he reminds me of a young stephon Gilmore. Great instincts. Quick. Awesome hands for a db. Ball hawk.

This doesn't stop them from taking a CB. He signed a 1 yr

I didn’t say it stops them. I’m saying it’s looking like edge and lb will the the priorities. Or at least they should be.

This another pretty good get. I’d really feel much better if we snagged a LB’r or 2. That position is gonna give me anxiety. I can’t watch another season of crap play at that position. KM has to be the worst defender I’ve ever seen play, and we had a guy playing on one leg. Gives me nightmares thinking about him filling the wrong gap, or not knowing his zone responsibilities.
Yep, well said.
Me and you would have been a sight together watching the games and suffering from our Murray influenced PTSD attacks.

Right on brother.

No its not, it's just new starters. It's a wash across board. If anything Wilson is better than Thompson he just got way too much crap around here.
The majority of guys breaking down film note that Thompson is an upgrade over Wilson. Thompson is more of a chess piece. More versatile than Wilson was on his best day. I trust the breakdowns.

I think we still need a corner. DT isn't an urgent need
Right. I think it's LB and CB. Maybe even Safety if Downs or Thieneman are there. There is good value in the later rounds at NT. Like Capehart and Durant.

Durant is better than trading for Elam and appears to be a solid corner overall. My question is with all these desperate cornerback needy teams why did Durant get only a one year contract with no real money.

Solid guy. Not scrap-heap fodder. Great depth piece if nothing else. At some point in the season you might have to lean on him. He could end up being a starter if Revel or Bland turn up lame. Still need that CB in the first round imo.

Dude is pretty undersized. There are definitely some WRs that can just post up on him

Stills seems like a cool dude

Rams fans called him “Land Shark”
we have a land shark and a seat belt Carson, damn these WR's have no clue what they're going up against!!!!

Excellent addition. Immediate starter IMO. *cobie

Yeah I like this signing it's stop gap kind of like Gilmore was, But anybody who thinks because it's a one year deal he can't at least try to fit in and become a starter, they're not looking deep enough. I dont Like a bunch of one year stopgap players but maybe he earns an extension here, but this is another Parker guy...

He definitely likes to come up, and tackle cover he's aggressive, I mean we're not talking about a premium starter but he's a good player..

We’ve obtained 3 new starters:

Gary
Thompson
Durant

Gary=Clowney
Thompson>wilson
Durant>whoever was starting last year

There’s improvement.
The important thing is they're doing this to set the draft up to where they don't have to get desperate and reach.. None of these guys stopped them from drafting any of those positions...

This reminds me of the Gilmore signing even though that was a trade maybe we'll keep this guy around longer than one year I don't know much about them but after looking at videos and hearing about how solid he is he can definitely help bridge the gap besides the fact Revel and butler coming into camp healthy should help a lot..
