Jerry on the state of the defense

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to reporters on improving Dallas' defense: "I feel very good about it. We have nowhere but up to go on defense. That's not anyone's fault at all. But we're going to almost assuredly be much better. And I'm betting on us improving on offense. That ought to get us with a better feeling when we get into December."

Yeah!
Couldn’t be the part-time GM’s fault!

I’m beyond disappointed with the Cowboys Beat. I’ve always had their backs. Not anymore. I’m not saying they are “Mickey Fisher”, but not one of them having to stones to say “so what your saying Jerry, is the reason you are going to be better is because you can’t be any worse” is unforgivable. If this guy was in the NFC East and not the NFC Dallas, he wouldn’t be able to make it out of one press conference alive!!!

You have to feel for the guy. Unfortunate set of circumstances that nobody could really control. Credit to the old man for taking it like a champ and not playing the victim card.
The unfortunate set of circumstances is Jerry's the general manager and we have no control.

He can't play the victim he's the perpetrator of this crime every year.

we fans are the victim of his lust for generational wealth and having the most valuable team in sports rather than wanting to win a Super bowl

Jerry… It’s 100% your fault that the defense was that bad. You hired the crappy coaches and signed all of the JAG players.

Be honest for once you narcissistic SOB.
Well he could be honest, he is a billionaire, and owner of the team so he cant be fired.

But maybe he has read the book on the 48 rules of power.
In that it says to never admit you were wrong or at fault about anything.

Why would he expect to improve on offense? With a George Pickens who sat out all of camp and preseason?

They will tell you next offseason that they didn't see the offense regressing coming. In the meantime they will go into the draft fixated on defense.

If ever there was a pass for cuss words on the zone......this would be the TIME
I'll do it for you "30+ years without a Superbowl!" Sorry guys for my foul language, mods ban me, but just leave all my assets to @dupree89 he's a great guy, he'll know who to give my love to!!! Bye friends!!!!!

LOL not anyone’s fault?

It’s your fault, you ****. You hired the coach who sucked because you knew him. You went cheap in FA in past years leaving the defense woefully thin on talent.

I would imagine you're being sarcastic, as this is a classic case of playing the victim card.

Well, if this idiot windbag doesn't instill confidence in the Cowboys fan base, then nothing he can say will do so. I think you have your answer about what to expect in 2026, and don't cross your fingers/toes that anything meaningful will follow.

I warned you all........now live with it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we even had the worst D in the NFL in 2025 so there is "not", anywhere to go but up

"I want to be clear here. It's nobody's fault how bad we are."
:lmao:

Yup. But knowing that's the hand we are dealt all we can do is look at what they have done so far this year and ignore Jerry's inability to admit his incompetence. I for one am happy with the moves we have made. I never expected a Crosby type move. Keep the Offense intact and add what you can on defense. We should be much better in the defensive backfield than we were last year (don't forget Revel was a rookie coming off a major injury with no TC). We still need a playable MIKE and an edge who can be disruptive (maybe EZ steps up if healthy?) and we only have one DE on the roster (need to add 2) so we need to use those first 3 draft picks wisely (we all know the team drafts for need and not BPA). We won't have high level starters at every position, but if we draft well we will have elevated the defense by a lot. I also expect to add a rotation/low end starting DE soon.

What's shocking is that there still appear to be some who don't understand the role of a GM/CEO.

Clark and Q will play DE w/ Ogboner manning the nose. All we need after that are backup types, and don't forget, Gary weighs 277, prolly see him some at DE also.
