What is the actual plan at LB?

...Wagner is on his last set of wheels, might fall of this year.
It seems that is said about him every offseason, but he continues to produce. We need a LB that knows how to communicate, keep an eye on alignment, and play his keys.

The biggest issue I saw from this defense last season was communication. Somebody was always lost on any given play, which led to busted plays on just about every drive. Downs should help in the secondary, Wagner adds another field General in the middle of the defense. A physical should determine if he can still move. If he gets hurt, we still have a proven, successful mentor to coach up the younger linebackers. It's a smart move.

Some other veterans besides Brooks could soon become available after the draft as well.

I would take another Dat anytime; clearly you never watched him play
It’s floaty. So, no… he didn’t. Or didn’t understand what he was watching.

He’s just jealous Nguyen was more memorable as a Cowboy than John Abraham’s Cowboys tenure.

Does anyone here live in Lubbock? Can we get some embarrassing photos of Jacob Rodriguez tweeted so he slides down the board?
Send a pic of him cruising around in a black hawk helicopter drinking a beer!

Let me preface this by saying that I LOVED DOWNS.

What I am trying to understand is. What in the actual you know what is the plan at LB?

Now not only will the green dot in this defense be a rookie, a 3rd to 7th rounder rookie is supposed to do that job?

Are they trading into the second for Rodriguez or Hill? Are they hoping that CJ Allens pro day makes him fall to the third? What is the plan? Because unless Downs can play MLB we are in trouble there.
The plan is to go cheap and hope they hit on something. That’s literally it. We’ve seen it for decades now.

Trading into 2nd is very expensive

Which pick woukd you have spent on a LB last night?
I liked the draft so far. The issue is trying to rely on multiple draft picks to hit and contribute year one is a bad strategy. They have shown multiple times that they will go into the season with a glaring hole and just let the chips fall where they may.

It’s a two year fix. Most of us knew that all along

We may just have to understand that LB is going to still be a weakness

What does Downs have to do with LB?

Who were we supposed to take at 11?
I was trying to let people know I don’t hate the draft. Because I’m asking about LB some here would think I’m “hating”

This is the correct answer. We weren’t solving it in one year given the Williams, Pickens, and to a lesser extent, Phillips trade.

We still need depth at DL, starters at LBer, and likely another CB.

Relax, my God. There's only been 1 round in the draft and plenty of more free agency time so pull em out and enjoy the ride.

They had too many holes and too many whiffs at defender the past several years. They still have some time to address LB, but you're right, it's a two year fix. I'll call it that the Cowboys D is going to be way less stressful to watch this season. I think we'll hear Downs name a lot in games.
