Saban on hot mic calling MLaw a reach

Lawrence was a late riser. There were multiple mocks with him in the late 1st round over the last month.

But we didn't use 20 on Lawrence alone. We used 20 on Lawrence, Devin Moore and LT Overton.
It's also funny because wasn't the consensus before the draft started that there was what, around 12 or 13 first round prospects in this class? So if they were all picked before 14-17, what were the other teams supposed to do if there wasn't first round talent to pick? Reach. But Dallas got the pretty good player they wanted and two other players on top of it. While it might have been a "reach," they go their value out of it. You can't magically steal a prospect from another team or summon up a new one. You have to pick from what's available.

Its fine, he is entitled to his opinion. A rumor I heard was SF wanted him in the 1st and traded out once Dallas grabbed him.
Heard 4 teams wanted him.

Heck that’s who I wanted.

Hes a Khalil Mack starter kit.

The tape is pretty good & the athleticism is off the charts.

If you can’t coach this guy up to be decent then you suck at your job.

There's a reason why four other coaches wanted Lawrence when Dallas drafted him. He's surely not bereft of 1st round talent if four other coaches were disappointed that we beat them to the pick. Guys like Saban can say whatever suits their fancy when it's not him making the decision. Ignore it.

Hmmm... unlikely they took Mikel Williams in the first last season. Lawrence is a much less refined player who comps to Mykel skillset!
