That’s a fair trade. It’s a 2028 1st for a top 5 receiver in his prime. Broncos traded a 1st, 3 and a 5….

Brown is going into his eighth season, and coming off his worst season since 2021 yardagewise.

Waddle also has not played as well as his first three seasons, but he is in his prime going into his sixth season at 28.

Brown is only a year older, but has more wear and tear and also has had the attitude problems that got him traded to Philly in the first place and reared their ugly head with the Eagles as well. I would not have given up much more than we did for Pickens for him at this point. But Roseman always seems to find someone willing to give up top value.

Brown was not a top-five receiver last year by any measurement. He was 19th overall in receptions and in yards (that includes tight ends). He was tied for 15th in TDs. So a first-round pick and a middle-of-the-pack receiver?
 
With a messed up offense, Brown was still a top receiver. He’s an impact player. Philly would have never traded him for less than a first. Remember, the Rams gave up a first + another pick for Adams last year, and AJ Brown is definitely better than Adams at this point. Happy to see him gone.

AJ Browns lack of production was more because of who was throwing him the ball which is why he wanted out.

AJ Brown isn’t a middle of the pack receiver IMO.

I’ve kept up with the whole debacle in Philly. He doesn’t seem to be the problem it seems to be the qb.

The same RB for a QB who gave him his only 1400 yard seasons.

AJ’s numbers declined because of his hamstring problem that seemed to never go away and his chronic degenerative knee condition. His stats may go up early in a different offense, but he’s not suddenly going to become a better a wr long term. It’s why the Rams backed out

You are what your numbers say you are. That should be your value until you prove differently. The Patriots overpaid for a player who was middle of the pack last year.

If he turns out to be the move they needed to make to reach the Super Bowl, I reserve the right to change my mind. But IMO Howie got more than he should have for a player who was divisive and didn't put up elite numbers last year. I'm sure New England agreed to it because the Patriots feel they are on the cusp of reaching a Super Bowl (kind of like the Rams giving up Verse for Garrett).

Roseman has a way of fleecing teams, though. I mean, he got first-round picks for both Sam Bradford and Carson Wentz when it was clear that neither of them had shown they were worth it.

I think the decline of AJ Brown is significantly overblown. Even in a "down" season his Y/RR is right around 2.0, and thats for an offense that overall simply wasn't as explosive at it was in 2024. Plus Brown ended the year on quite a high from week 12 on. I'd argue his stats were mostly down due to a really bad start to the year where he had 3 games in 4 weeks under 30 yards receiving. He really rebounded nicely after.

Carson Wentz and Sam Bradford stunk. Yes, those were fleeces. AJ Brown is an all pro. He’s not them. He’s a great player. He’s only 28 and will be 29 when the season start.

Your numbers don’t say what you are. Pickens who we love didn’t have the same stats until he got to Dallas.

It may be, but you still don't overpay for what you think might happen. You pay what a player shows he's worth at the time you make the move. The Patriots overpaid for what Brown showed last year. They are banking like you are that his lower production was simply because of the offense and not because his skills are in decline.
