Trey Wingo hints at Aaron Donald returning to Rams

Crazy thing is even an Donald at 70% would still be a legit DT.
The man was a generational player.
If he came back, I would assume he would take on more of a rotational role to start.
Yeah he has kept himself in good shape, albeit not NFL playing shape. I'd imagine he could return at 75-80% of the player he was in 2023 in a reduced role.

Garrett will do all the heavy lifting, while Darnold only plays 20-25 snaps in mostly passing situations.

99 Rams, 2017 Eagles, 2001 Patriots, 1990 Giants, 2000 Ravens, 87 Commanders & 80 Raiders.

So 7 times they have still won it all.
99 Rams? How do you figure? Warner started every game and won the Super Bowl mvp.

So that's 6 times in 45 years, and half of those were pre- free agency/salary cap era when teams could stack talent.

I think you are just making my point that most teams are sunk if they lose their QB not just the 2026 rams.

Warner was the backup though. Trent Green whom they had acquired to be the starter was injured in preseason. So yes, Warner started every game but he would not have if Green hadn't gotten injured prior to season beginning.

Certainly, no team would like to lose their starting QB ... but they have triumphed more than you would think. 7 out of 60 Superbowls is 11.6%. I was originally only remembering 3-4 times until I started researching.

This doesn't count how many times a backup has been able to make a playoff run or get to the SB & lose. I didn't do that research. My takeaway is that is good reason to put a lot of effort into your backup QB. The right teams with the right backup can still be very successful.

What good team isn't sunk when the starting QB goes down?
The chance of injury goes up the older you get and the more wear and tear on that body.

18th season for Stafford. The Rams are doing everything they can to win this year. I don’t blame them at all and acquiring Garrett is massive.

But IMO, their hopes rest way more on Stafford staying healthy, and at his age, that is a riskier proposition than almost any team.

Touting a “any QB can get hurt at any time” perspective— while not false bc injuries can happen to anyone at any time— simply ignores the reality of age and its correlation to production, performance, and injury risk

The Rams are putting together a great team for a last ditch title run with Stafford.

But they are old. It’s a long season. If Stafford goes down — so does their SB dream.

If they stay healthy, no doubt they are the clear favorites in the NFC.
Agree - I remember that year the eagles did the “dream team” and how that worked out….assume rams will be good but feel they are a riskier team to bet on give injury risk with age

Oooh, yeah!

Cowboys play at the Rams on December 20, 2026. I hope Aaron Donald comes out of retirement to team up with Myles Garrett. I don't want to hear any excuses when our young but strong Cowboys Oline pushes them 30 year olds Garrett and Donald around for a decisive Cowboys win IN LOS ANGELES!!!
