Apparently, Dak is the only one who owns Hurts

I appreciate the positivity, but there are way too many posts about “Prescott owns this” and “Dak owns that.” You know where that always leads—try saying anything nice about our quarterback, even though he deserves credit as one of the top QBs in the league, and it’s just going to go south. People will start bringing up all his failures, hitting that word “HIS” in all caps, his playoff record, his struggles against better teams, even in the regular season.

They’ll talk about the second half, comebacks, and all the usual nonsense. We’ve heard it before about the stats, he’s now dominated: they said he couldn’t throw deep, read defenses, or hit timing routes, he’s proved he can do all of that. They said he couldn’t handle the blitz; I remember back in 2017 when they claimed he wasn’t the same without Zeke.

He’s already shown he’s more than that.

Prescott has answered all those questions, yet here we are still talking about his playoff record. That’s what people will focus on, along with everything else I mentioned, they’ll say it’s all on him. But you need to realize Jalen Hurts didn’t dominate those other guys; his team did. He had great defenses, ridiculously strong offensive lines, and then he gets Saquon Barkley. They haven’t asked him to do much—he’s being carried, and we all know it. I’m not saying he’s a bad quarterback, but Sam Darnold just won a ring too, should we talk about that?

People act like rings are an individual accomplishment when going deep in the playoffs is about great teams. Jalen Hurts just happens to be on a team with an aggressive GM who will swap out coaches and players as much as needed. He doesn’t care what people think or about past failures, he’ll keep doing it over and over.

Jalen Hurts ended up on a better team, and if anyone thinks Dak on that Philadelphia Eagles team wouldn’t have won more games or maybe even another Super Bowl, they’re mistaken.

At the very least, he’d have a ring too.

Look at Matthew Stafford: he left a team he couldn’t win with, led the league in interceptions his first year with the Rams, threw two picks in the Super Bowl, and still came away with a ring. Stafford is one of the better quarterbacks in the league, but he makes plenty of mistakes that get covered up by the team around him.

I appreciate fans giving Prescott his props and posting positively, but it never stays positive, it always spirals. It’s like the old Romo versus Dak debates; there were Romo haters back then, and now there are Dak haters who used to love Romo. This will never end. Any attempt at a positive post eventually circles back to the 2–5 playoff record, as if that’s solely his fault, when it belongs to the whole team. That’s why I say Jalen Hurts doesn’t deserve sole credit for beating certain teams or for losing to the Cowboys or Prescott.

I just want to get my two cents in, I’m sick and tired of all these posts tearing down our quarterback.

Since when does a fan base overly criticize a QB who’s had at least three MVP-caliber seasons and a Rookie of the Year award? The man owns just about every Dallas Cowboys record there is and deserves more respect. Yet people keep blaming him for what are clearly team and front office failures, moments in big games where he had no support. Still, they hang it all on him. Meanwhile, Jalen Hurts is getting carried over there, and I’ll say it again. CARRIED!

They need more than just a few players to step up, Jerry loves his stars, but the Cowboys are far too top-heavy and overly reliant on them. When those key players struggle or get injured, the whole team suffers. We've seen it before some of our best players didn't show up in the big games, The offensive line was great in the regular season the run game was great in the regular season but Zeke in the offensive line doesn't step up instead they play their worst games and then you flip it to the other side same thing I don't care how great Dan Quinn's defenses look for those three years he's been exposed at every stop he's been that in big games they fold up like a cheap chair.

They need more depth and a stronger overall roster.

It’s not Prescott’s fault; he’s constantly dealt with bad defenses. In fact, he might be the only quarterback in his first ten years to have three defenses ranked among the worst in NFL history.
I scanned through your post, but we are in agreement for the most part.

When I place blame on our playoff failures I typically place it across the board. An overwhelming majority of qbs struggle without a run game or competent defense.

That said hes the leader and franchise qb. To this point I simply say he may not have been the problem, but he also hasn't been the solution. Its not fair, but it comes with the title and contract.

I think every active qb, but Mahomes has a losing record against top defenses.
I'd like to see the numbers. I mean I get it..they wouldn't be "top defenses" if they didn't stop offenses, right?

But...again....at some point QBs and the offense have to score....against good teams. Teams that go to conference championships and super bowls likely have good defenses...and ...lose.

How can that be!

:)

If it's a "team game"..and Dak is part of "the team"...

then he of course gets blame too.

The problem seems to be you have to go through EVERY SINGLE OTHER problem first before you can get to Dak. And even then "they" will say you only blame dak.

It's weird.

This will be good! 3,2 and 1.

Look I'm glad we're in agreement but I think you're missing my point at least my biggest point here it doesn't come with the title and contract most people who watch sports are not clueless casual fans I expect a lot more from people in here 'cause I don't believe people would come here if they're total casuals but they are trolls when people are ripping on Prescott or Romo both franchise quarterbacks both good enough to win championships if they had a better team not just

  • no run game
  • Poor defense
  • Being out coached in all three phases
  • Not just the offensive line being leaky sometimes like the tackles can't block and pressure comes right away, but remember the game in the playoffs against San Francisco that they claim Prescott was the reason they lost a game because of a couple early picks even though we seen Matthew Stafford do that in a Super Bowl and it did not bother that team a bit because they have a better team,
But the Cowboys offensive line had 11 penalties do you know how many times they had to play from behind the scenes and all the plays that were positive in those drives were brought back and they were playing like 1st and 25, 2nd and 15 or worse? How about that same game they had three penalties on the defense there were 14 penalties in a game that was close and all people keep reminding us is well maybe a Prescott wouldn't have made those mistakes, no that's not how we'd look at this, That's not how non casual fans look at this the deeper part of football especially but all team sports but I'm going to keep it with the NFL There's too many moving parts this is a team game it doesn't take many of those parts to fail in those games and it just ruins plays.
  • We wouldn't be having this conversation Have we had a defense step up in Prescott's first playoff game the offense played great they came from behind multiple times at least three times from memory to only have the defense give up the last score it happens too often That is why I will not blame the quarterbacks Yes you can go to some of those games and realize the quarterbacks both Romo and Prescott made some early mistakes but you see games just like that,
I remember the playoffs in 2023 somehow; they're bringing the offense up in this game Are you serious they allowed the defense from start to finish or giving up touchdowns like it was free candy on Halloween. If you look at that game and now you go look at the Lions and 49er game happen the same way the Lions were dominating San Francisco, they were beating them down hard at halftime it very similar The Cowboys were down the 49ERS were down about the same number of points and it looked over.

But what happened in that game The Lions game San Francisco's defense special teams in coaching found a way to slow the lion's down and start making stops and guess what eventually the 49ers came back and won that damn game.

What happened with the Cowboys defense? oh that's right let's talk about Prescott's first half struggles where I just showed you the same type of game but our defense gave up three straight touchdowns out of halftime 21 points in a row,

How are we supposed to be even trying to make a comeback in that situation?

I'm sick and tired of talking to people that should know better Yes Prescott threw a couple of picks in some of those games but when he's done that in past games like that Philadelphia game three or four years ago where the first series of the game he threw a pick six to the defensive end and then dominated the Eagles the rest of the game and won you know why because the rest of the team did their job it enabled him to make up for his mistake Players make mistakes like that I saw Troy make those mistakes all the time troy was not a perfect quarterback and never carried this team he had Emma Smith the offensive line of defense and a coaching staff that can rally a team when a quarterback is struggling say in the first quarter or in the first half they make a few mistakes.

Already mentioned it up there I saw San Francisco make a comeback in the same situation because the rest of our team got it together I saw Matthew Stafford lead the league in interceptions throw two interceptions in the Super Bowl that were neutralized because of how good the rest of his team was around him they weren't gonna blame him they were gonna step up and make sure he wasn't the scapegoat and he was able to play better the rest of the game as well he almost threw a 3rd pick later in that game I mean do we need to keep going over this at quarterbacks are not perfect but you need the rest of your team to be strong enough that when players around you are not playing perfect their game is off a bit that you can pick it up..

And is what championship games are made of and I'm tired of these people in here acting like casuals when I don't know many casuals who signed up and spent extra special time talking about a team that allegedly they root for but burned down the quarterback as if there couldn't be worse we've seen worse here we've seen 12 really bad quarterbacks between Troy and Romo and no one's appreciating Romo and Dak they keep saying we could have better and I watch other teams struggle for decades looking for a starting quarterback even close to Romo or Dak..

Can't have it both ways everybody in here wants to say our GM is not aggressive enough they don't use free agency properly they make mistakes all the time bringing in certain coaches So you look on the other side you got the way the Rams and the Eagles are aggressive and and make sure the rest of the team is solid they don't have to put it all in the quarterback..

No way anybody in here could tell me that Romo or Prescott couldn't be on those Super Bowl teams the Rams or even any of the Eagles Super Bowl teams with Hurtz and they somehow wouldn't have won?

I know another long winded rant you don't have to read it you can skim it and I'm just getting tired of these damn threads you try to say something positive about the quarterback the rest of everyone burns it down and hangs All the failures on the quarterback and that's just ridiculous to me I can see why a casual would think that but in here I know they're not casuals so that's why we call them trolls it's a real word it's not a bad word it shouldn't be edited out people don't like a person or a player they know that they are really good players but they're going to troll anyway..

RANT OVER for today!!

Not in playoffs or Super Bowl stats. You know the games that really, REALLY matter.
Putting up 20 points and allowing them to score 27, with a zero bad defense last season, teams, win championships, Prescott on a different team, would’ve had two rings one with the Chiefs and one with the Eagles

Please show us WHO says "all the failures are on the QB".

I just do not understand this lying nonsense.

Boasting somehting you can't prove is SO cute!

Soon to be 33, 10 years as a starter, and 2 playoff wins. That's really the only stats that matter.
Post of the year!!!

Please show us WHO says "all the failures are on the QB".

I just do not understand this lying nonsense.
it was too long of a statement he made to be nonsense, the guy has a lot on his mind!!!

Hell, Trent Dilfer OWNS a Superbowl. What does that mean other than they both played for teams that helped them win one?
he doesn't play for this team, could care less about any other qb

The average super bowl score is FAR more than 20. So we need our offense to score more than that.

...I would refrain from any type of Dak tick-vote threads.

Charmers on here ready to pay load Daks post season efforts.

Even if they weren't 100% is own.

But they love to paint the glass house transparent. ;).. .

I agree, Dak just needs a RB capable of a 2000 yard season and a top 5 all time defense and he's really got a shot at this thing.

Well Superbowl winning quarterbacks didn't have top 5 all time defenses and 2000 yard runners... but I noticed that that most of them had or have offensive coordinators and head coaches who either are in the HOF or have HOF pedigree. I believe Parcells is the last coach that we had with that high level of coaching and championship pedigree.

I also noticed that most Superbowl winning quarterbacks had very good offensive and defensive lines in the same season. So from what I see, it can be accomplished, its up to the whole team and coaching staff to get it done.

True, but you keep bringing up Dilfer, therefore my comment was what it was.

Hurts >>> than Dak.

6-4 in the playoffs.
1 Lombardi.
525 yards passing in the SUPER BOWL's
142 rushing yards in the SUPER BOWL's
109.4 QB Rating in the SUPER BOWL's.

Dak's stats are meaningless in comparison.
