CB Shavon Revel Jr. recently shared new workout footage

Nice quick hip movement while keeping his head locked in. He looks ready to roll. Hard to not get excited for some of these young guys this season, here's hoping Coach Parker can get them all in tune.
Along with being a bad couch coach and couch GM, I'm also a bad couch scout. Even without being good ones, I can see what you're talking about. No doubt he's ready.

GO COWBOYS! :star:

It’s not a knock on Revel to acknowledge he was severely limited last year but still recognize that his play was very, very, poor.

Until he proves he isn’t a liability, opposing DCs and QBs will hunt him.

  • Targets: 30 targets across 7 games.
  • Completions Allowed: 21 receptions.
  • Passer Rating Allowed: 119.7 when targeted.

The hype in this thread is off the charts!
So he was limited but you still expected him to do well? He shouldn’t even been on the field.

There’s a difference in “balling out” and being, objectively, the worst in the league.

If you look at this thread, there are people promoting him as CB1 and the single reason CB isn’t a concern.

All based on a video or two and Christian Parker working a miracle.

Expectations are just so extreme

Edit: if you want an example, look no further than Overshown. In his fourth year and still with so to prove before he even earns a second contract.

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride
At least Revel had an excuse for poor play. What was everyone else's that we trotted out at CB, including Bland who was ridiculously bad?

I didn’t have any expectations

Expectations are what is what this thread is all about. Really high expections

All I did was post his PFF rating and nfl.com metrics on targets and opposing QBs ratings.

People acted like I shot their dog. Or maybe just their pet cat.

When there was a thread knocking his character, I was the one most hotly defending him because the facts were on my side

Post in thread 'Shavon Revel is the key for the CB position moving forward!'

That doesn’t mean that I’m just going to ignore all of the other facts because I want to be caught up in off season fever.

I’m a realist,

I’m a realist,
That was my point, we shouldn’t have expected much. As for going forward, I’m just sitting back and waiting for camp and the games to begin to see if there’s any hope or not. But the hype doesn’t bother me, warranted or not. That’s why I havent really interjected on the we’re better or worse threads.

I don’t know how he’ll play this year, but he is certainly moving well. That is much better than he was a year ago.

I do think that he’ll be physically fine.

He just needs to show Parker that he can handle the mental load that this defense will put on him. If he can then I don’t doubt that he will be a real asset for Parker.

I loved this pick and when he got on the field last season he didn’t disappoint. Guy wore a brace the whole time trying to cover NFL receivers not ECU opponents. I expect him to start at one of the outside spots .
I loved the pick, but I agree that he didn't disappoint. I'm not saying it was his fault because he had setbacks and had to wear the brace, but he didn't look like a starting-quality corner. Of course, none of our corners did last year.

I get that he wasn't comfortable last year but I didn't like that he 1) didn't seem to want to tackle much, and 2) at times didn't compete very hard, which you can't let happen even if you aren't 100%.

But everyone gets a clean slate now that Nolanflus is gone. When literally every single player on your defense has a bad year, there are massive coaching issues going on.
