We may have to wait until 2027 to see him impacting the defense. I'm still excited to see what CP can do with him though.

LT Overton isn't just transitioning from college ball to the NFL in 2026, but he'll also be moving to a new position. One of three fourth-round picks last April by the Cowboys, Overton is going from playing edge rusher at Alabama to an inside position in Dallas.

Despite the extra recognition from playing at Alabama, Overton only had middling appeal in the 2026 draft class. He was too big and not athletic enough for the modern NFL pass rusher, looking more like a run stopper. There was pre-draft talk that he might fare best by bulking up and moving inside, and that's exactly what the Cowboys saw in Overton when they use a late fourth-round pick to select him.

even getting to 285 to 290 range would be good as a 3-4 DE or 3-tackle in a 4-3 alignment.

On a defense where Jay Toia got nearly a hundred snaps, I’d love to see this guy grr a few and put Toia to the practice squad
How that Toia kid ever made the cut last year ....just tells you how bad that defensive staff was...I'm surprised we haven't cut him already and brought in someone else.

Why would they cut him? They knew when they drafted him that he would be a 2 year project. He likely stays on the PS this year and we will see what he can do next summer.

I don’t have any expectations for him right now other than being able to contribute as nice depth

:hammer:

He played close to that weight at times in college. I think he slimmed down for the Combine. But he seems more naturally a bigger player so I don’t expect gaining some weight to be an issue.

Bullard plays the role just fine at 290.

It’s more about power and strength than weight.

He's going to show

Toia was a high floor/low ceiling prospect. An "either he can play, or he cant" guy. I dont expect him to be on the roster
I wouldn’t even say his floor was high.

He’s just a run of the mill backup NT that Dallas usually plucks in around that range seemingly every, other year.
