Which cornerback will have the best season

Bland. If used in the slot. Which i doubt.

Everything else we have right now is below average.
Depends on what you mean by below average. Moore is a rook w/ excellent skills, but injury prone. Revel has top 5 skills, but is very raw and coming off a major injury in 2024.

Cobie Durant,he is the only one who has done well in Zone coverage. Both Revel and Bland have been horrific in Zone and even in the Parkers scheme we are playing a majority Zone.

..Im going with Bland. I think Parker lets him loose, letting him play to his instincts again.

Agreed, and with Downs in the same backfield and an improved front 7, I think Bland is going to be able to play with his instincts again. Should be fun to watch

See everything we have besides Bland is a medicore FA signing and some draft picks that are injured but advertised as the next hot something. I doubt that unless they show us all.

And also we are not good at drafting players. Not to say bad which in my mind we are. So to expect a 4th rounder to make a significant difference is not what the last 15 years of us drafting CBs have taught me.

What i saw from Revel is that he is not NFL material. Sure he was thrown way to early into the fire. Lets see what he does this year. But the stuff i saw last season had nothing to do with injury. The guy is not good. Advertised as the holy grail or whatever.

Lol shut up dude.

They haven't shown to have a high ceiling bc they haven't shown that they can consistently cover.
Once again, you are using a term that you don't understand, and then turn to insults. Are you Rockport undercover?

Revel's injury was in 2024. He doesn't appear to be injury prone.

You might be mistaking being raw for not being able to play. Revel has a top 5 skillset. I dont' believe saying he is "not good" at this point is accurate. To maintain accuracy, raw rooks must be evaluated differently from NFL-ready rooks. There is a mountain of difference, BTW in not being NFL material and being thrown into the fire way too early.

What I don't like is that Revel is a traits guy from a small school.

Agree that we have not been drafting well. This draft appears to be different, time will judge.

And who said he is prone to injury?

He was thrown in the fire way to early because of his injury. Not because he wasnt ready.

The guy was advertised as a top CB i scouting memos. First round grades if not for his injury. Now you say the guy is raw.

Nah he isnt. He is not good. Just because he looked good in college against minor competition doesnt make him better. The guy has fundamental flaws.

Maybe this draft will be different. I do sure hope so.

But right now to me it doesnt look like it.

Downs may be a good one. But he is just a safety. Not an high impact player like a pass rusher. You dont spent such a high draft pick on a safety. Generational or not. Thats bad resource management.

Lawrence is a poor mans DFlaw. A step to slow to be a pass rusher and no bend ability. Needs at least one season to develop. Thats not good drafting. You dont spent first rounders on players that may become starters in their second season. Your first rounders have to be day one starters and make an instant impact.

Our CB we drafted in the 4th is injury prone and had be ause of that red flags all over him. Position with the biggest need and then you draft this guy? And again an injured CB. Great pick!

Revels first season was thrown away because of injury. Now ypu say he is raw and needs time. So maybe in his third year he will contribute? That was a 2nd round pick and half of his rookie contract is thrown out of the window? Mow we do the same crap again with Lawrence? #41 i-dont-know-where-the -play-is-going-because-my-heads-up-arse is the same crap we were drafring.

Guys who have essentially no competition at their spot and were drafted very high arent able to even crack the lineup. Come on man!

Well lets see what Barnhan can do.

You may call me negative or maybe too demanding. I dont think i am. All i do is reminding all of you what it takes to be a contender. And its not having excuses or being polite. If you want ro play with the big biys you have to look at the small things. And we dont do that AND we are very bad at them too. Heck we are even bad at those simple things.

And now i have to listen to this clowns that they plan on bringing maybe Crosby in.

Any of them that will get their heads around to locate the ball!!
Good Post, it is amazing how many defensive backs fail to look back and locate the football. You can't make a pick or a play on the ball unless you turn your head and locate the football. I look for Revel to come into his own this season and become our most consistent corner.

If you had to stake your claim on 1 CB on this roster to be the best CB on the team who would be your choice?

There are plenty of concerns heading into this camp regarding this roster. IMO, cornerback is the biggest one.

You can make a strong case that we don’t have 1 cb on this roster who many will have much confidence in, however, if you had to pick one, who would you go with? I’m cautiously optimistic that this group is going to be better than we expect.
Bland, since he has some more experience and will hopefully be 100%. I like the fact that Revel got some playing time last year and will actually have a TC to prepare, he should impress but will still have a learning curve to deal with.

I hope it’s Bland and Revel. We have sunk lots of cap space into Bland and Revel needs to show us he has recovered from that knee injury. And Bland needs to show us he can play a full season after two foot surgeries in two years.

But I also wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Cobie Durant. He’s not the most gifted player and is a little small but he has a knack for the ball and in the right surroundings can be very solid.

IMO Corner is one of the biggest roster question marks going into the season.

I hope Bland bounces back. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He was banged up last season and was being utilized in Eberflus' defense, which wasn't exactly doing anyone any favors. I think the kid has talent, but time will tell.

With that said, I'm really excited to see what Revel does. Now that he has some NFL experience under his belt and is hopefully on the other side of that knee injury, it'll be nice to see him playing without a knee brace.

I think this front seven is going to play well.

I’d rather have good safeties than corners. The corners we have are going to be fine within the scheme, and probably end up looking better than they actually are.

It’s not pass rushers and corners Jerry, it’s DTs and safeties. They make the others better much more easily than the opposite. Did you finally get it after forever, or was that a coincidence?

Revel can be a player if he is fully healthy, the kid has some skills about him.
This is pretty much just a guess. If we're saying he has a high ceiling, then you can do it with basically any toolsy player that gets drafted.

Injuries are what they are, but he's 25 years old and hasn't shown any good play in the NFL. His college body of work was fine but mostly incomplete. The odds of him turning into some sort of shutdown corner are razor thin.
