Only the cowboys would elect so many leaders. Like giving out participation trophies. A good way to not have leadership is having too many cooks in the kitchen.

The majority of NFL teams follow this concept, including both the Rams (9) and Seahawks (10), who jsut happen to have the two best head coaches in the league.

Here's the interesting thing about Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman. They actually led a team to something.

So has Trent Dilfer and Colin Kaepernick. Pretty cool, huh....

We're at the point that a large portion of the uninformed fanbase is going to critique the team for everything and act like everything they do is uniquely bad. It's what 30 years of mediocrity gets you. It's easy to jump on the "old man yells at clouds" bandwagon and participate in negative echo chambers than it is to looks at things objectively and (often) with common sense. It's hilarious when people bash them for stuff like this so many other teams do, or saying a SB is a goal or other status quo answers they give in press conferences. It's unfortunately going to be like this until they make a real playoff run.

There’s some solid veteran players on the team that aren’t on it. If I’m one of them I laugh at this. What are they like the team police?

What’s to gain here? You want to name a captain for each unit just before the season? Yeah I guess so but I still don’t see the benefit other than that they ought to guide young guys….but isn’t that already understood without this?

Don't use facts dude, it takes away from the fun of being able to sneer about everything the team does. Our echo chamber anonymous internet forum knows way more about running an NFL team than coaches or players!

Good points, but my post above isn’t saying it’s a Cowboys only thing. They are innovative in nothing other than futility.

Defensive council is quite telling, players from other teams gotta teach these guys how to be accountable.
