I’d say this, yes. Don’t get me wrong, I’m hoping for the same but I can’t already say that the season will be a failure without it.


But I’d also disagree with this.

As of today, I see two - the Seahawks and the Rams.

Eagles, Lions, Bears, Seahawks and Rams are better than Dallas rn. 9ers and Packers are at least on par if not slightly ahead. Dallas will need drastic improvement to change this.

Dallas has the opportunity to prove me wrong as they play most of these teams this season.

Jerry is still GM and nothing has changed about how he does things.

And yes, absolutely what happened before does indicate what will happen again. This is called "pattern recognition", and once again 30 years of the same pattern playing out should be enough for anyone, but I guess not in some cases.

You are choosing "cognitive dissonance" rather than "pattern recognition".

And there’s solid reasons they are including odds makers. And why those of us choosing to wait and see how it unfolds is following sounder evaluations than following our emotions .

Doesn’t mean Cowboys haven’t closed the gap and could potentially overcome but until that happens …

The Cowboys aren’t hopeless . But there’s ample evidence this era for fans to have pause . We are coming off two consecutive losing seasons .

If some fans want to have overwhelming optimism that’s fine but it isn’t based on recent history , current trends or results.

Let’s hope the moves this offseason culminate into its fruition . Most of us are waiting anxiously to watch it develop. Why the need to make more of it or over hype.

Totally disagree. After 2 consecutive losing seasons making the playoffs would be progress .

Each season isn’t a SB or Bust mentality. Now once we establish a trend of making the Playoffs again, winning division and seeding at home for playoffs then we can elevate our expectations to the SB.

One of the things that has impressed me the most from Seattle is that - despite the huge changes at head coach, personnel, and quarterback specifically - they remained competitive and never had to go through a huge rebuild.

Agreed. And not surprisingly….Seattle has a great GM in John Schneider.

In today’s NFL, not having a really good GM with both vision and accountability, means your team is just not a serious contender for a title. A good GM usually gets 4-5 years from an owner to win something of importance, or they are fired. Not here of course.

I would love to be wrong but until this “Aw shucks, we’re just running a family business” BS stops, we are not headed for Ring #6. We can at times flirt with being good. Until the playoffs.

The last 30 years is not an accident.

Are they? Highly debatable.

Packers lost out last season. 4 in a row. O was 15th, D was 12th. I think you might be overrating them, not to mention the extreme Love love by the media.

Bears were 6th on O, 29th on D. Not some juggernaut.

Eagles are going downhill. 11-6 last season. Hurts appears to have been exposed.

You actually have to make an effort to have someone around. 'Hommes wasn;t a starting QB rookie year. Rodgers wasn't. Romo wasn't, Dak's rookie start was pure conincidence (and started on a pretty good team BTW).

Most starting rookie QBs lately have gone to pretty bad teams (i.e. Burrow), who need the instant return of capitol...and often struggle. Ideally you go ahead and pull the trigger a little bit before you're forced to.

Dallas has (had?) the problem of huge investments and confidence (warranted or not) in Dak and huge needs elsewhere. It will soon be 12 years by the next draft...not sure how many teams go THAT long with making any effort in the next QB.

Rodgers was a 1st round pick. We don’t have a 1st round QB being groomed on the bench.

I still don't think with the current t players at offensive tackle and edge, that they can passblock protect their own QB or sack the opponent QB good enough over an entire season in order to net a playoff run.

I think they lack the horses to pass protect and sack the opponent QB.

OT is just a problem and there is no way around that. I’m hoping for a vet via trade or FA before week 1.

I am hoping on the other side with BT on the staff and his being a pass rush guru helping and with a DC who hopefully will scheme a little more to help out the pass rush and with the new additions and EZs hopeful year 2 growth we will be ok from a pass rush perspective but it is certainly far from a known commodity at this point. Might Miller or someone sign amd might that be enough to make it good enough? TBD.

All teams have weaknesses. I think we did a lot to raise the floor on a bunch of ours but not enough to say this is a team that will compete for the ultimate prize

No, you acquire one in FA or draft one .

Dak has shown he’s enough with a strong supporting cast on offense and a good enough defense .

He hasnt shown he’s enough on the bigger stages or enough to carry some of the better teams he’s had further or deeper.

Until he does there are going to be doubts .

I’m not defending his less than stellar playoff performances, but right now we don’t have a better option on roster nor is there one we can realistically obtain that would be an improvement over Dak.

We have to wait until Jerry & Co. decide the time has finally come to draft one in the 1st (unless we somehow bank on a UDFA or late round prospect).
