Jerry Jones: Very happy with Cowboys post-Micah Parsons trade

OXNARD, Calif. -- As the blockbuster trade of Micah Parsons nears its one-year anniversary, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he cannot be happier with how it worked out for his team.

The Cowboys traded Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and first-round picks in 2026 and 2027. The Cowboys then used the 2027 first-rounder (plus their own second-round pick in 2026) to acquire defensive tackle Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets at last year's trade deadline. With the 2026 first-rounder, the Cowboys added pass rusher Malachi Lawrence with the No. 23 pick in April's draft.

This isn’t true. They didn’t trade Micah for Quinnen.

They traded Micah for Kenny Clark, Malachi Lawrence, LT Overton and next years first round pick.

Jerry and Stephen are always happy, we lose in the playoffs and they're HAPPY about the way we played, we commit 100+ yards in penalties, Jerry and Stephen find value in the way we've progressed going forward lol

I’m happy with the fact that they (Father and son) said in the post trade interview that they needed to get serious about stopping the run. Using the assets to add Quinnen and Lawrence and then also adding Downs is committing to the run. We’re tight up the middle.

Now retaining Clark and Quinnen for this season and Q for beyond this season makes me feel like they didn’t lie to me (and other fans) about having a plan to stop the run and stick to it.

Do I wish we could have kept Parsons and added Quinnen. Well obviously that would have been ideal but I also feel making Parsons one of the highest paid players ever after he took a nap during a game would have been a culture killer. I don’t think there was a possibility moving forward with Micah after his nap.

100% correct. You can’t sign him long term after “the nap heard round the world.”

Parsons made himself bigger than the team, and they were right to trade him at that point.

Before that? They were piss poor as a FO. Jerry and Stephen played things so poorly and allowed things to degrade and get to that point that they should be analyzed and criticized for it for the rest of their careers. A low point in a legacy filled with blunders.

That said— post trade, Dallas has come through quite well. A talent infusion on D and a stronger overall culture on the team with adding guys like Q and Clark.

But, to me, “Parsons/Jones” will always just boil down to giant egos having a pissing contest for the world to see. A true clown show if there ever was one lol
