I have never been able to understand the lack of respect for Malik Davis

He is absolutely our best option at RB 2. Was last year as well. In fact since he has been with the team he has done nothing but produce when given the opportunity. IMO he is the very definition of what a solid RB 2 looks like in the NFL. He may not be GREAT at anything,....but he is good at EVERYTHING. He is the type of runner where if the O line has 4 yards blocked up he will get you those four yards and once in a while break one for more. You don't see him running into the backs of the O lineman or trying to take it outside only to end up getting stoned at the LOS when taking the easy 4 would have been the smart play. Blue to me is a boom or bust guy,....quite honestly he looks to my eye like a disaster just waiting to happen. P M is another Solid guy like Davis but is at least a notch or two below. Seems like we are wasting a whole lot of time looking for this phantom RB 2 when the truth is we already have him and he has been here the whole time.

No, you're wrong. It all falls on the Oline blocking. Had Malik started last night's game and ran behind the 2nd string Oline's putrid run blocking, Malik Davis would have also averaged less than 3 yards per carry the way Blue and Mafah did.

I know, right? All those arguments about the #2 RB, and many were discounting Davis, and didn't care for it when several started saying Davis is easily the #2. And it looks like it stays that way. So far.

But he has done well during the regular season as well. Just look up his in season stats. Right at this point he is far and away our best option at RB 2 when it comes to those we have in camp. If not him,,,,who?

I woke up saying that bro, he deserves to be number 2 until somebody else wins it

Malik Davis ran well last night (as did Abanikanda) because the 3rd string Oline overall blocked well. That whole 2nd half was full of good running holes and lanes for they to run through. Had it been Blue and Mafah, they easily would have picked up big yards. You guys need to take everybody into your thought process, not just 1 player by himself. OK, Malik Davis ran for big yards. OK. But why? Did he break tackles or were there big holes and lanes for he to run through?

But Davis has a track record going back to the 2022 season of doing it in REGULAR season games under the bright lights.

Davis is a MUCH smarter runner than Blue is. He will take the bird in the hand instead of chasing The bird in the bush only to end up gaining NOTHING. Once he takes what's open THEN he looks for the cutback chunks. For a RB2 I'll take that any day of the week and twice on SUNDAY!
They're not really the same kind of RB but just based on what I've seen so far, Blue reminds me a little of Julius Jones. All the necessary talent but not much in the vision or patience departments.

That first highlight video just proved my point. Rewatch it. On most of those big runs, Malik wasn't touched until he was at least 8 - 10+ yards downfield. A lot of his big runs comes down to excellent run blocking being performed in front of him.
Then why didn't Blue gain yardage like that when he was getting the carries prior to Davis taking over? Did the O line not block for Blue but blocked well for Davis? LOL

I'm not against the other guys at all and I hope they improve and compete for the spot, but right now there's no question to me that Davis is the second best running back on the team and that's not just from last night's game.
