Just one game but Milton looks 100% better than last year. I think he will lock down his backup QB spot with a similar performance next week. Yes, Howell has more experience, but Milton's potential ceiling is much higher. Being younger and costing a 4th-rounder, this is now his job to lose, IMO.

Yeah too close to call at his point. Thought neither of them were pressured much so they could sit back and pick their spots.

Hard to judge either one when most of the opponent's team will be applying for jobs at Home Depot in a month. Milton is the better athlete, but Howell may be the better overall player. I will withhold my opinion for now. I need to see more.

Milton’s downside is just scary low so I’ll go with Howell for now.

Milton should be the guy that we have and just forget he’s on the roster like we did with Romo.

You develop him & coach the bad stuff out of him as much as you can and then you hope one day you have that unbelievable talent that has cut down the mistakes.

He’s incredibly gifted.

I need to see more of each of them. Let's see how they do in the next couple of preseason games before making that call. Consistency is key here. I lean toward Milton because of his running ability . . . just one more facet of the game for the defense to plan for. But if Milton doesn't perform and Howell does, or vice-versa ... that makes the call for me.

Draft status has no bearing on this, and being one year apart in age really doesn’t matter either. At this point, it should come down to who has looked better throughout the offseason, training camp and preseason. The Cowboys have had plenty of time to evaluate both QBs, and in a couple of weeks, we’ll all find out who they believe is the better option.

My guess howell is backup and Milton EQB. But still got time to change

Too early to gauge, either way they'll both make the team. The 3rd QB is allowed to be on the roster in case the starter goes down
Wow we agree on one thing TBD baby..

For sure if we had a game tomorrow I'm starting a guy with NFL experience in real games like how old had some pretty solid games so he's the backup quarterback if we had a game right now...

But let it play out..

Milton. I usually don't use this phrase because when I see people use it it's usually for shock value. But in my honest opinion......."it's not even close" who I would choose

That's right if we had a game tomorrow it would definitely be Howell..

No he doesn't have real game experience howells played in some real games as a starter and done really well in a few spot duty moments He's basically Cooper Russ with a better arm.

I think you reading too much into what you saw he still doesn't know how to vary his velocity he threw some passes to guys that were open that were way too strong He needs to learn how to take pace off his ball to fit the play..

So if we had a game tomorrow 100% it's howl you can't go off a preseason game it's to be determined by the way you keep three quarterbacks every single week once an emergency one's a backup it doesn't really matter because if your starter goes down the other two well get snaps they're elevated immediately..

So I think it matters is in some real games at the beginning of the season if somehow you lose Prescott you have to have a quarterback that's been there and that would be Howl again he's Cooper Rush with a better arm..

You sound like the people who tried to tell me to relax about Romo from preseason performances. I know what I'm looking for. Don't worry about me. I said what I said. Milton.

Just 1 preseason game in the books, I would go with Howell over Milton... If DAK goes down a QB with game time experience is a must. Milton is such a wild card and has no game time experience...Lets have this discussion in a couple weeks,,,we will no more then

Milton did play a game for the Patriots.

HOWELL, It's not about preseason performances I know what you think you see but I know what I know you don't get a backup to a guy like Prescott that doesn't know how to change his velocity and throw the ball he's still chucking the ball too damn hard on some of the little out routes and stuff.. I mean his ball has the same velocity it he hasn't changed i'm glad that he's developing he will be on this team he will be the emergency 3rd quarterback but Howell looks like Cooper rush when the better arm.. That's what you need is a backup a guy who's been there you don't give it up to Milton in my opinion not at the beginning of the year if if a quarterback gets hurt early you need to salvage the year and you're not doing that with Milton, milton is too much of a project.

It doesn't matter romo had nothing to do with it We're watching Prescott who is a starter he's actually just had one of his best years last year this team is trying to develop a defense they have a great offense you don't hand that opportunity off to a guy like Milton that's all I'm saying maybe year after this year we need a guy if Prescott goes down for a long period to have five or six games as a starter and the only guy on this team his name is Howell that can do that..
