RELEASED Cowboys cut WR Traeshon Holden (for Von Miller)

Gives him a chance to jump on to another team.

I am not saying he was the worst or best player. He was just a guy. But he was probably better than others on the roster.
That’s what I’m asking. Who was he better than? I don’t know who Hudson and Smith are. Maybe they are better maybe not.

Now can we get Camden Brown into number 80 instead of having him share number 6 with EZ?

Is Cropper still on the team?
Nope.

October 14, 2025 Moreno-Cropper was waived by the Cowboys and re-signed to the practice squad.

On February 11, 2026 Cropper signed with the Houston Gamblers of the United Football League (UFL).

On June 17, 2026, Moreno-Cropper signed with the New Orleans Saints.

I think Holden can blame Brown for being cut as much as the fumble. Brown ascending made it clear that Holden had no roster chance. I think Mingo is ahead of him and now Brown is ahead of him and we'd probably keep Anthony Smith ahead of him as well since we just drafted him. So with our four absolutes (Lamb, Pickens, Flournoy, Turpin), that makes at least seven ahead of him.

Vet players Scant.ing
Should MVS be ahead of younger players though? I don't think he creates any separation (from what I've seen). Yes, he's a vet .... but looks more like a progress stopper to me.

This isn't related to the Holden situation. I was asking myself this before the game. I'm just curious about the board's feelings about MVS's value.

I don’t have him making the 53.

I don't see much value in him BUT since we are trying to evaluate the QBs as well, the team might feel that having a veteran out there who's been there, done that has some value. While a rookie might make the wrong read or run the wrong route, a veteran is more likely to go to make the right choice and not hang the QB out to dry.

Now, I don't think that is reason to keep a vet over a better young player, but Holden didn't show himself to be that.

Schottenheimer just pulled a Jimmy Johnson, Curvin Richards see ya later.

No, Jerry should lean on Pickens to take 80 so we can have Tony Hill-Drew Pearson all over again. Hopefully, Jerry went to school with someone named Pickens who wore #80 and then it's a done deal.

I don't know. I like players in jersey numbers that are not tied to other players. No one has really laid claim to No. 3 in Cowboys lore. I hate arguing over which 88 is the best 88 because Jerry keeps giving the number to our top picks at the position.

I was impressed by him last year in training camp, so I'm guessing either he has regressed or other players are just playing better than him this year.
Actually both can be true ,

but we don't have to overreact The same thing happened last year Flournoy, We got lucky we circled back and made up the PS they did that at like twice and put on the practice squad he was cut and brought back them from the practice squad and then brought back up and now I think he's safe.

so holden can go through the same thing you're right there's some bawling right now not only in practice and scrimmages but Saturday night's game...

Schramm/Landry started the 88 tradition. They originally gave 1986 #1 Mike Sherrard 88 but he didn't want the pressure and switched to 86. They then drafted Irvin #1 in 1988 and gave him the number. So Jerry just kept the tradition that was already started.

Camp body at best in my opinion.

A progress stopper at worst.
