PFT: Troy Aikman calls out Jerry for a 30-year Super Bowl drought

Jerry keeping himself as GM is indefensible.
I wanted to emphasize it is most indefensible, out of all the billions of people in the world, by himself. He is a multi-billionaire who owns extremely large companies. However, he is like every other business owner, no matter how small of an operation they run, in one way: he sets goals with the expectation they shall be met.

Jones has set goals that he expected others would fulfill for him when he hired them. They have been employees before buying the Cowboys. They have been employees after buying the franchise. He has fired employees his entire adult life IF they did not do their jobs according to his set goals.

He has never applied that same expectation on himself as the franchise's general manager. He has no defense whatsoever. And if he cannot defend himself to that utter truth, no one else can either.

Hopefully Shotty will be that coach. I know some don't like him from his past as a assistant coach, but I like the culture change he is bringing...and so far, I like how the team and the coaching staff is coming together.
I hear you, but basically you're saying the Cowboys marketing department is doing "one helluva job". Schotty and Christian Parker are both young, unproven and we were 7-9-1 last year...I hope it's more than just different lipstick on the same pig.

Never said or insinuated any such thing. You keep making HUGE leaps of assumptions. Things people NEVER said. Just to argue on the internet?

And your definition of a fan is "we have to love and cheerlead everything even meaningless things".

But you are way more right then me, eh?
That is exactly your point. You are saying that because they haven't won, they can't. If that isn't the case, then the last 30 years doesn't matter as anything predictive.

The past 30 years are either predictive and mean that Dallas can't win a Super Bowl, or they are meaningless. There's no grey area in that.

Yes, I am more right.

Not only is he very poor at his job but he employs his whole family doing jobs that they are not qualified to do which compounds the problem
I get what you are saying. Him and his son, and anyone else related to JJ, can work in the front office but not make personnel decisions. If I am in Jerry's place, my whole family is working for my organization regardless of what anyone thinks.....o wait, that is the way Jerry thinks.

There is nothing we can do about it. Don't buy his merchandise and don't watch the games. I don't buy the merchandise but I won't quit watching. I do agree with you, but our hands are tied

It depends on what their prospects for the future are. You don't invest based on past performance.

Would you invest in Amazon? They didn't turn a profit for like 20 years.
don't invest on past performance
dude, that is all pretty much EVERYONE does. Past performance of the company, founder, CEO etc
very FEW invest in way out there statups by nobodies
And the Cowboys history as regards payoff in the playoffs is HORRIBLE
AND YOU STILL HAVE THE SAME CEO running it

"turn a profit"...or LOSE profits? Did they lose investors money? Or invest it and win? IS Amazon exactly where they were 30 years ago?

Of course you are right about investing. You don't invest AFTER the company skyrockets, right?

And a side note...I do think it's okay to invest in your sports team with FEELINGS. Not stock market...er...generally speaking.

I never said that...AT ALL. Please quote me saying it. You make it up in your head.

What I have said is I'll wait until they do to boast about it, and cheer them on very bit as much you.

I never said I was more right. I never said I was right at all, let alone more right. It's just my opinion. EXACTLY like you, believe it or not.

This is an arbitrary and pointless milestone.

Super Bowl wins is the only historical metric that matters.
Well, we can agree to disagree.
NFCCGs appearenses are an important measurement of a teams success or lack thereof.
By either of our measurements. SB or NFCCGs, Jerry's teams have been failures the last 30 years and I cant wait
for the day he is no longer GM of the Cowboys.

“He knows why we won with Jimmy Johnson, and I believe the reason we won is because every player in that locker room felt, and I think knew, that Jimmy was calling the shots, that Jimmy was in control of their destiny, so if you didn’t do what you were supposed to do by Jimmy’s standards, you were held accountable,” Aikman said. “He was a great evaluator of talent, he drafted those players, he built those teams, he was a tremendous general manager — I say general manager, he was a tremendous evaluator of talent and in many ways he was the de facto general manager. I think he was probably better in that role than he was even as a head coach, as good as he was there.”

Past performance can absolutely be an indicator of future results.
If you have the same incompetent decision makers in place, why would performance be different?
Why do CEOs get fired for poor company performance?

and ours never is
which shows how little winning means to them

3 Super Bowls in 34 years is not incompetent, like it or not.

There's no correlation between changing GMs and winning Super Bowls.

By your logic, teams like the Bills and Lions can't win a Super Bowl ever lol

No they aren't.

You'd rather have the Jets than the Cowboys over the last 30 years? lol

Ok fine. If that isn't your point, then you agree that the last 30 years doesn't matter.

What a twisted way of looking at things
When your last SB is 30 years ago.
When your last APPEARENCE in the Conference title game was 30 years ago

I'm not looking at it that way - I don't think the Cowboys are any more or less likely to win based on what they've done in the past.

That's how you guys are looking at it.
